(I'm sorry if a similar topic exist. I tried to find it but came up empty.) If we lived in the best timeline and got the original PFM team back, what would your wildest hopes for Petz 6 be? Please vote and expand on them in the comments, because I'm super curious about what people would like. I don't know much about coding or game design so my list might not reflect what's realistic. But we're in the best timeline, remember? For me, I would love to see: 1.) New breedz: Catz (Ragdolls, Havana Browns, Devon Rexs, La Perms, and Hairless cats) and Dogz (Pointers, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Pit Bull Terriers) 2.) Improvements to the world of petz: More standard house playscenes, customization in the settings (picking rug color or wall paper), playscene interactivity and random events. Having a pet, with randomly generated traits, appearing as an adoptable stray would be so fun! After you've earned their trust, of course. 3.) New traits: Warm and cold versions of pelt colors, heterochromia/sectoral heterochromia, pelt pattern gradients. 4.) New Behaviors: Mutual grooming, chattering, pointing (in dogs), head bump greetings, and cuddle puddles.

I would love new behaviours. I think the current behaviours are one of the game's strongest points. A nice mixture of realistic and cartoon like behaviours that have enough variety to feel spontaneous and allows me to suspend my disbelief and think of them like real creatures but adding more would always be welcome.
New breedz and Wildz would be great. I think hexers have shown how good breedz can look so it would be interesting to see what they could add to that. Wildz could even be it's own pack so you could buy Dogz, Catz and Wildz and have it combined as one game like Catz and Dogz does now. They could also have a fantasy pack a bit like the more recent Petz games. It could include dragons for instance.
Improvements to the world: They already have the day/night time clock sync but it would be great if they could add a calendar sync to that depending on which hemisphere you are in. Random snow days in the garden during winter for instance. More weather events. We have hints of it in P5 but it could be more fleshed out. New options in the scene editor would be good too. Maybe the option to layer things so they can pass behind scenery, trees that are further forward near the edges of the screen for instance or go inside holes in the scenery for caves and such and also add our own seasonal events on a per scene basis.
Updated graphics. I say this cautiously because the newer Petz game style is not what I want at all. I love them just the way they are but updating the game to work on modern resolutions would be great. Back to full screen. Also an option to have them walk around your desktop but not in the way that it works currently in P5 where you can't actually interact with your open programs at the same time but instead they always stay visible on top while you get on with other things. That would make them feel more alive.
I think the community has it pretty well covered but more food related toys to go with the new wildz would be nice. Keeping the style consistent with the current in game items.
Improvements to the game's current limits to be more in line with modern systems. For instance the line limit for breedz or the size of music files for the music box which currently have a delay when they load if too large. Or how currently the game doesn't like you auto-taking more than 255 screenshots. These are old standard limits that don't apply today. Also the colours available to use when creating our own breedz would be a big one. Let us use something like hex colour codes to have access to a much larger selection of colours and fix the textures so they can be applied to any colour.

An in game pet editor would be good too. Petz Workshop is a fantastic tool but rotating pets to get the angle that you want can be a pain. Also achoring paintballs while not hard adds an extra step that isn't needed. Make a smarter editor so we can concentrate more on the design and details that we want to add. WYSIWYG type of thing.

I have to say I agree a lot with Catbaloo. The game’s AI is the best I’ve ever seen in a pet game to date, and to improve on that with modern technology could be simply phenomenal.

Yes, completely agreeing with Catbaloo's points. Especially liking the idea of allowing pets to walk BEHIND things, such as tall grass or behind trees, etc. And also, how about being able to better interact with water? Like petz being able to get wet, swimming in ponds or getting dirty in puddles.
- Speaking of getting dirty, it'd be fun to be able to actually bathe them and see them become visibly cleaner.
- Better weather effects. The rain in Petz 5 was rather disappointing and might as well have been invisible to petz. I'd like to see my petz reacting to the rain and either liking or hating it.
- The option to follow your petz around in game instead of only making them follow you. It would be nice to sit back and just watch and see what they do and where they decide to go when left to their own devices for a bit..until they start whining for attention, that is. xD
- New behaviors. This has been mentioned already, yes, but I'd like to add that I wouldn't mind seeing petz recognizing each other as family and having special interactions just for family members. Currently only mama petz recognize their newborns & infants but once they've grown to kitten/puppy and separated from them then they are treated like any other unrelated kitten or puppy.
- Taking a leaf out of games like The Sims 2/3/4, expand on the petz' profile with things like maybe tabs showing the petz traits, favorite toys, foods, and in-game places. Also, a tricks panel showing all the tricks they've learned.
- I really love the mice in the game, but I feel like we could use more little interactive critters visiting in other scenes, where appropriate, too. Such as birds in the outdoor scenes, and maybe a little squirrel to either annoy or entertain petz in the backyard or some place.

I'm going to nitpick on Kel's suggestion (although I still love you <3): I think if these creators were to create a Petz 6, I don't think that they'd want tabs to show petz traits, favorite foods, etc. In a tech demo, PFM explained that they purposely hid these features (even tho their own Debug console showed them this information for testing reasons)-- I think the beauty of Petz lies in the mystery and discovery of these things. This is such a gem that I don't think many people today appreciate not knowing all the information, but discovering and guessing and possibly being wrong. It makes Petz like real life pets-- you don't have bars of information or text explaining things about your irl pets.

I basically agree with what everyone else has said. These are all great ideas! To combine Kel and Thor 's ideas, since I like the idea of having these things able to be seen, but also the idea of finding them out for yourself... perhaps a "traits" and "favorites" tab would be blank or filled out with ???s until you play with and explore areas with your Petz until you find out what they are, and then they are entered into their profiles. It would encourage more interaction with you Petz that way too if you wanted to fill out their profiles completely. Too bad these ideas will probably never happen.

Thor I get what you are saying. I think what I was trying to say was that currently, as it stands, the way it's coded in game is that these traits or petz favorite things are not as easily spotted or pronounced. And/or that I would just like to see that feature be more in depth than it currently is, with or without the tabs. I'd like to really take notice of the things my petz like and don't like. The toys they prefer most, the playscenes they want to spend the most time in over the ones they don't. How am I to know if my pet prefers the beach over the backyard? I don't want to just pretend, I'd like for my pet to express that, for the game to tell me in some way. Currently it's not doing that very well or at all. But I do get what you're saying and what the devs were aiming for. EDIT: commander that was one idea that came to mind that I forgot to mention when typing this up! A sort of fill in the blank type thing. You only discover the answers to those things as you play. And maybe some of them have more than one answer, cause not everyone just has only one favorite thing in every category, and maybe every once in a while that answer changes and you have find out what it is all over again because just like in real life your favorites can and do change. They did this in the Babyz game with the food. You didn't know what food they would eat until you tried to feed them. They would refuse to eat what they didn't like and say "no" (if they knew how) and fuss until you brought to them the food they did like, and whenever they'd get hungry they'd start crying for the name of their food if they had learned to talk. Periodically though, their favorite food would change and you would have to figure out once again what they were willing to eat.

Ah that makes sense.
Babyz has quite a lot of very interesting AI. It was developed after Petz 2, which I think was the pinnacle of the Petz AI (then developed breeding from 2 to 3 but didn't touch the AI it seems?).

21 voters and I'm the first to think the mini games were fun?
They aren't perfect, but I kind of like them. I'd like it if there were more like the monkey's challenge, where it's entirely up to the pet to win the game.

^ If the mini games weren't so glitchy or finicky I think I'd enjoy them a bit more. But I do like the idea of one where it's up to the pet to the win the game.

Maybe if the petz can be trained to complete the mini games themselves rather than me flinging my pet around xD That's why I'm so fond of the monkey's minigame. If the pet doesn't cooperate with you, there's no way to win. If they were all like that, they'd be much more engaging and less 'do X to win'.

I know I'd like to do sports with them, like flyball and the like. I find it endlessly fun to teach them to do stuff and it's relaxing to play fetch with a dog or watch a cat do their thing. I've even had catz who fetch xD I'm notorious for playing legacy games because of the gameplay not the graphics. Petz is still my number one for that. The graphics are kind of lame by today's standards but I wouldn't have it any other way. The game is amazing and it says something if I'm still playing it 21 years after D4 came out!

One thing that would be really good for a hypothetical Petz 6 would be more types of interaction between Petz, especially with Dogz. New types of greeting and play would really help to bring them to life and make them feel a lot more realistic.
An idea I've not seen proposed, but more random little events in the same vein as the mice appearing. For example; your dogz being able to dig holes and reveal new items in the backyard or other outdoor areas. Events like your petz coming across stickyweeds, which you have to pick or brush off their coats. The little things!
