Out of the controversial issues listed, which (up to 3) tend to get you most heated, either for or against? Please, don't get the discussions too heated in this thread though You can say whether you're for or against something in particular and why, but don't go too far and don't argue with others about their beliefs. I purposefully didn't add an "Other" choice, because I'd like to keep the poll focused on these particular topics. Feel free to mention other things if you want though.

Gay rights, global warming and War. Against all of them I dunno why, but I find it absolutely disgusting when people judge others by their sexual prefrence without knowing them. It is probably because once I know someone who is gay and such and I find out they are really nice I see the utter stupidity of the world.
Wars are unesscary and kill innocent people. The world leaders are pretty cluless sometimes

I chose Gay rights, animal rights, and abortion-- Instead of gay rights, though, I missed "wars". So I voted gay rights, but I would have chosen war.
I'm against war, because innocent people get killed. I'm against abortion, since it's killing poor, innocent babies-- I don't care if the mother didn't want them, it's murder! Finally, I am for animal rights, since they are living creatures and deserve to be treated like a person. My pets are almost like people, and they act as if they know everything I am saying. They are basically human beings, but furry. ;D

As an anthropologist, I get kinda concerned [ok really concerned lol] when I hear news stories of towns that refuse to teach evolution or condemn people that believe it. I've nothing against people that are for intelligent design, but it's when they start shutting down the beliefs of others that I start to get ehhh about people .__.;;

Errrr tbh I could care less about humans and such?
I chose Animal, Enviroment, and Global Warming. All three, humans have started, and all three, we will end.
Animal rights really hit close to home; I've been doing research on the topic, primarily on treatment in China, and I've come to realize that things we humans do every day may be hurting an animal somewhere else. My family also owned a fully organic/free range beef and dairy farm, and while I'm lucky that we never abused or treated our animals with neglectful intentions or manner, I realize that so many other animals are hurt daily.
As for the Enviroment, I live in Berkeley. Enough said.
And Global Warming. Well, there's not much to say about it, other than it stinks but it's really what us humans deserve after all this selfishness.
But if I had to choose a human-related one, it'd be racism. People are racist every day and they don't even realize... Racial stereotyping is racism too!
"Oh geez, you didn't get an A in that class? But you're asian!" "Oh he's Mexican... No wonder he lives in Richmond." "I'd never want to live in Oakland, I'd get shot by a black person." "Stop acting black, white boy!"
^All three I've heard in the past month by various people. I vividly remember these because I always think that people who classify others just because of their background are disgusting, and they stay in my head for a long time...

Immigration is the main one that peeves me to hells end. The amount of immigrints that live behind and around our house is pure annoying, they have about ten kids each, they terrorize my cats and other peoples cats, the make that stupid bloody noise at 3 in the morning, they don't work for their money and take child benift, they steal and they treat us like the scum. I don't want to come across as a racism person and i'm sorry if I do, I don't mind if these people come into our country and work fairly like everyone else. But the immigrints at the back of us just don't care they make everyones life hell with their constant noise, immature attitude and they think they are above us. Well sorry no they can hop back in their van and bugger off -thats just my veiws, sorry if it offends anyone, but having to deal with these kind of people everyday makes us look like a third class country whilst they come flooding in and taking our money, houses etc for free basically. Example a turkish? family moved in down the street, they don't need to pay any bills, they have about 13 children and they get child benift etc, they don't work, the kids don't go to school, they give us dirty looks, they got £1500 to start them off by the social. Now that I think is wrong tbh they should be working for their money and not sitting on their backsides doing nothing. If we went to their country we'd be shot if we walked in and asked for £1500 for a house and stuff. Anyways
Wars annoy me because tbh they are pointless if you ask me I think its just a fight to see which country is stronger and it gets loads of people killed for no reason, so yeah.
I can't really pick another so meh

Racism, Gay rights and evolution vs. intelligent design.
We're all humans, no matter shape/size/skin colour/sexuality. And geez, guys, stop fighting over whether there's a big guy in the sky who created us all or not. .-.;; x3
We're here, right? 'tis good enough for me -- don't need to prod into how or why, really.

Animal rights since i'm most passionate about it. Then gay rights and abortion (and those usually lead to religion) since those seem to come up in any debates I have with people heh.

I'm pretty passionate on animal rights, but I since I figured that was a given, I didn't vote for that. I would have voted for a lot of the answers, personally, because I feel strongly about a lot of things. I chose Stem Cell Research, Gay Rights, and Abortion. I feel so strongly about Gay Rights and Abortion because of how unfairly it was decided by Bush to try to take those things away. He has no idea what it's like to be a woman carrying a child she can't care for, and he has no idea what it's like to love someone and be told you can't and that it's wrong. I thought America was the land of the free, not the land of ignorance. As for Stem Cell Research, I just think it's something that we should attempt, really. I don't know much about it, so I won't go into it that much. I just think donating umbilical cords to save a person's life isn't that big of a deal. I forget the other way to get stem cells though, which I think is the more controversial way. -shrug- I hate listening to Global Warming speeches because they just scare me. ._. I also hated learning about evolution in school, just because my teacher made it appear as if it were the only option. I personally believe that both could have worked together, but that's my opinion, and I'm not offended by other people's opinions so long as they don't tell me what I should think and shouldn't think.
somanywords!

I chose religion, racism, and animal rights. But there are others ones up there that I could've chosen. Religion bothers me because I am not religious, and I don't care if anyone else is, but what bothers me is when people try to make me religious. Thankfully I live in a family who is not religious, so at least they don't ever try to push anything on me. Judging someone by the colour of their skin is just stupid, and thats really all I have to say about that. And then animal rights, because animals have always been just as important to me as humans have. They're living creatures, and they have the right to live without being abused or neglected.

Evolution vs intelligent design and religion (together)... it's not that i get "heated" but i do tend to actually argue quite a bit about it with my family. But they are the type of people who believe "god created everything as we see it, therefore dinosaurs don't exist, speciation/adaptation has never occurred, etc." It's really the complete lack of even considering there is another way (or that other religions besides Christianity may be just as valid) that makes me argue with them. My step father even tried to tell me once that all dinosaur fossils are made up by evolutionary propagators trying to get rid of religion. Racism. It infuriates me. It makes me want to make sure that people with racist view points can never breed. Even "positive" racial stereotypes make me angry. I can't even really talk about it coherently it makes me so mad. >_< Grr.

Abortion. [Pro Choice. It INFURIATES me to see men trying to tell women what to do with their bodies. This is my only liberal view, and I tend to think this way because I know someone close to me who's life was so promising, and then just completely wiped out because she had a baby, her parents refused abortion. Not to say that it wasn't her fault she got pregnant, but it should still be her choice, she shouldn't have to live with the consequences. She's not that great of a mom either... not even good for her son, he's a nice kid but... I hate that she can't go after what was once pretty much handed to her now.]
Global Warming. [I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe it exists. Big crackpot theory. I don't care if scientists support it, warming and heating of the Earth are natural. There is a hole in the atmosphere yes.. Global Warming.. no.]
Politics. [Die hard Republican. Obama is NOT FDR. You should've seen the McCain shirts that day! Condoleeza Rice for president [she needs to run]! I supported Bush, everyone makes mistakes, I'm sure Obama will too.. Like I said, the only thing I believe in that is liberal is Pro Choice.]
SO! That's just what I believe. Passionately =D.

Lucid, please remember that RQ asked for it not get to heated and for it not to go too far. Some of your comments could easily make it heated and can be seen as too far by some members of the forum.
