I sent him this pm, but figured why not add it this post.
Thank you for keeping Pugs open for as long as you did. You did a great job on making it a fun place to buy and sell petz. I'm sorry people said mean and hurtful things about you. I'm going to miss it, but I'm thankful for the time I was able to be on there. Again thank you for giving us Pugs while you could.

Thank you so much Midnightwolf for making PUGS possible and for all the hard work you put into it. I have loved PUGS and I still remember when it very first opened as I can't believe it was that long ago that it had lol PUGS was one of the only sites I would check daily and I would check it multiple times a day as it always gave me something to look forward to doing. I was always just curious as to who was around and who had posted new things. I always enjoyed the events you came up with as they were always tons of fun. I loved adopting petz from there and also loved selling my own petz on there. The cave site was always fun digging for gems as well and the gem shop petz were always fantastic. It's definitely gonna be hard to say goodbye to such a wonderful site and something that was part of my daily routine. But I definitely support and understand as your real life stuff and health is much more important than any virtual stuff. Thank you for the wonderful memories, the fun, and the awesome petz I have from you and I wish you the best! -Bec-

I only joined PUGS a week ago. To hear of it's closing is sad news. But honestly health and well being is more important than anything else. I know what it's like to feel defeated and I wish you peace in the following time. -gives you a hug if I may- <3

Just wanted to add my thanks to the pile - as someone who newly returned to the petz community after a looong absence, I only recently used PUGS for the first time, but I'll miss visiting it over my morning coffee to play the games and see what new petz were up for sale. I really benefitted from being able to buy some cool mixies and get my own little breeding projects off the ground. Thanks for all the effort you must have put in to keep it up and running for so long, and best of luck moving forwards!

I actually planned/put together this show-off pic before I learned of PUGS' closing... and even my new avatar, too! (I've been thinking about changing it for awhile now and this pet is the perfect small size lol). On Saturday afternoon I traded some gems and purchased a cardinal from the amethyst shop. I named her Gigi, after my mother-in-law (known as Gigi to her grandchildren), who is a big St. Louis Cardinals fan.
I actually debated trading the gems--I thought maybe I should just hold on to the ones I had, and even when I got the amethysts I debated buying the cardinal or holding on to the gems for a more expensive purchase down the road. Obviously I'm glad I went for the cardinal, because that must have been mere hours before the gem shops shut down for good.
This show-off/thank-you-post is a bit different than I thought it would be. Midnightwolf, I want to thank you not only for my new cardinal (who is perfect, btw), but also for the 13(!) other hexies I have from you, and most importantly for all of the fun I had buying, selling, and participating in events on PUGS. Its absence is going to leave a huge void that will be near-impossible to fill. I'm so sorry to hear that certain people made running the site too detrimental to your well-being. Please take care of yourself, and again, thank you for being such a big, generous part of the Petz community all these years.

I hope by the time you read this you haven't been overwhelmed by the PC's collective love and gratitude, but I'll try my best to contain my urge to write a sentimental, sappy novel in favor of a short(ish) message of thanks.
Thank you so much, Midnightwolf, for everything you did for the PC. I feel so lucky that I got to experience PUGS. I had so much fun there over the years playing games, shopping for petz, and saving up my gems for one of your lovely hexies. It was amazing, and I hope you know how thankful we all are.
While I'm sad that PUGS's time is over, I'm just really happy that I got to experience it when I did. Thank you.

As someone who gets evaluated each year by 12 year olds and angsty teenagers, I know that no matter how big the sea of compliments and praise and thanks, the smallest drop of petty inconsiderates always have the sharpest knife and truest aim to the heart-- I really hope that these words of gratitude find their way and help heal the wounds. I feel terribly sorry about hearing what you went through :( Petty words never need saying-- silence would have been the better option. Alas, regretting/ kicking myself for not stepping up and defending against what I've heard.... The best form of gratitude is a changed attitude--I hope one day that everyone will learn compassion, patience, and empathy towards others.
I mirror everyone's thoughts here and hope that feel better soon. I admire all the effort and dedication you put into literally everything you do. Honestly, I also admire that you speak your mind-- I often lack the courage to say how I actually feel haha. I've always been in awe at how quickly you can just fix things on PUGs. The turn around time and ability to update things is just incredible... I admire PUGs so much-- you did such a great job coding this website. I made a website once in college with 4 other people and all working together we couldn't even accomplish 1/12 of as much as you've done with PUGs all by yourself--you make it look so easy but I know what you've done requires great skill and effort and time-- and I've done this before and I'm still in shock and awe!! When you code a random event and it all works basically perfectly? Just- thank you so much! I've enjoyed it :)

Thank you MidnightWolf! You did so much for the Petz Community, made such a wonderful site that was such a huge hub for the community for such a long time. Your work will truly be missed! I loved the site the first time I came to it, and it instantly became part of my daily routine to play the games every day and check for cool new adoptions. It helped inspire me to breed and hex more so I could get points, I appreciate that a lot. It was so much fun!
And even through my deep pain of knowing I will never own an angler fish, (I was SO close to having enough gems, I just needed to do a little more digging and I'd be there, I was working on it at the time the site went down, I had the one I wanted all picked out, and I have such an obsession with angler fish! ) But I am not angry at you for this, no not at all! I am angry at the people who had the nerve to be rude to you when all you ever did was selflessly make a fun site for everyone to enjoy! I can't believe people would be so selfish and self centered like that. I can sympathize and imagine how hard that must have been for you, how hurtful. If I had put so much work into something like that, and got responses like that, I don't think I could put up with it, I would have shut down many years ago!
So I have nothing but admiration and gratitude to you for all the work you did and all you put up with, just so the PC could have a super cool place to buy and sell petz, play games and have events, enhancing the game we all love so much, such a wonderful place!
I know all too well that the negative voices seem the loudest, and they hurt so much. But know that most of the people who went on PUGS enjoyed it, appreciated it, and never had a bad thought about you and all your hard work. All of us here enjoyed PUGS and will miss it dearly. I know I will. I'm sad it's gone cuz it was awesome, but if it's for the best for you, I understand and am just grateful I got to enjoy it for a while.
The hexies I got from you will always be treasured. You are an excellent hexer and you hexed so many amazing things that I wanted so bad, and when my hard work paid off and I got one, it made it all the more special because I had to work for it. PUGS was genius that way! Anyone who ever said it was "too hard" just didn't understand that. I liked the challenge and I wanted you to know that.
So thank you MidnightWolf, for creating a piece of Petz history!
PS, you made my whole year when you hexed a narwhal! Phoebe says hi!

I can't believe I forgot to add this, but I just want to also say thank you for the amazing orca file! It was just a suggestion and you didn't have to do it, but you did and one of my lifelong dreams to have my favorite ocean creature in Petz and name it Willy after one of my all time favorite movies came to life! I know you said they aren't your favorite but you -still- did it and I am forever grateful and will love and take care of my whale until the end of time! Plus I also remember you saying it's not perfect, but you're wrong. It's flawless <3
And we can't forget your amazing sharks, either!! Remember when you put that song in the chat and we were trying to guess what it was? I named him DUNDUNDUN after the best part of the song in Jaws
