So I'm new here and new to the game. Recently moved to the United States and bought my computer at a garage sale and the person selling it didn't erase anything so that how I got introduced to Petz4. The previous owner of the game had well over 50 pets some of them 100+ generations since January 2000.
Really into the genetics of the game. Thanks to the previous owner I have 9 different colors of Labradors (not sure if this is good or not). I've only ever gotten Black, Yellows or Browns at the Adoption center so I have no idea where those colors came from. I did a google search of the Kennel name of the dogs and came up short unfortunately.
At any rate, I'm new and if anyone has any tips, tricks or "must see" websites I'm all ears!

Hi Copper! I think your story takes the cake for weirdest way of getting into petz, lol. I'd love to see the petz that were left on the computer, they sound quite intriguing. As for must see sites, considering you're into the genetics of the game, you might find this site interesting. It's a bit run down, but the all information is still good. There was also another petz genetics site a while back, but I think it's gone now, which is a shame, considering it also had really good information. Anyways, welcome to RKC, and I hope to see you around!

Welcome That's a really interesting way to get into the game. As to the strange colored labs there probably just mutations. Coat color and eye color can mutate to colors not on the parents. That's how you get dogs with orange coats or pink eyes and things like that. They're not so rare but they're pretty cool

Thanks for the welcomes everyone! I'm happy to be here and hope to become part of the Petz community.
Huge thanks to Skissors and CatCreatures for that link. I have a lot of the dogs and some of the cats in the color mutations listed so I guess whoever had this computer before me was a hardcore Petz Player. I'm thinking of maybe adopting some of the animals out for free since they have a long lineage and I don't think I would ever play with them much so it would be a shame if they just ran away.

If you don't want them to run away and don't want to adopt all of them out you can always put some in a folder. I don't know how I'd survive without putting some of mine in folders. It keeps everything so much neater and easier to manage.

Welcome You'll love it here at RKC! Finding oldies is always an amazing thing, and the way you came across them/the game is neat! Old lines can be very cherished, I would love to see what kind of old lines you have. Many of us have been around a lot of years and depending on who the previous owner was if they were involved in the PC would be neat to know.

Thanks for the advice Lollypop! I was about to do that when I noticed there were already a bunch of folders in the adopted pets folder. Ha, I guess the previous owner had the same idea aswell. Looking back if seems that -most- of the Labradors are all from TOP'S so I'm assuming that was P.O.'s kennel name since all the dogs from generations past seem to be stuffed into folders. A few of the showier breeds also seem to be mostly pure TOP'S lines with the exception of the Border Collies (not the showier ones the more Petzy version) that seem to be heavily influenced by CDF lines. Not that any of those lines mean anything to me xD
Google wasn't helpful with coming up with a website for any of the kennel names either. Either way it's a fun mystery.
I do have a question though. I notice with TOP'S lines, especially in Labradors there is usually a 1-2 month gap between generations but with non-TOP lines sometimes those dogs only have a one day ... or no day gap between generations. Can anyone explain the cause of that? I'm a little confused especially since there were a few DDR-styled Shepherds with five generations all having the same birthday until they were bred to a TOP'S dog .... then the 1-2 month gap in generations continued for some odd reason. /Not sure if I'm explaining clearly.
