griffy Fer.al seems pretty cool! Is it free to play, or is it limited by purchases you need to make? Reminds me of Impressive Title before it went down, which I enjoyed! Yup it's free to play. There are in game purchases and also a sort of membership but most of that affects aesthetics rather than overall gameplay. They designed it so you could still play it without having to spend at all. Though if you wanna get certain pretty creatures I think you have to pay ya. I think atm it's a little light on gameplay but hopefully they will add more as it goes along still being in beta and all. I do like the creature customisation and the looking around for objects, quests and that

Elite Dangerous is free on Epic games until the 26th. The game now includes the Horizons expansion which gives you access to engineering for your ship and planetary landings. I love this game. It's a space sim sandbox so there isn't a set storyline to follow as such but there are stories in the game that you can come across from time to time. Abandoned research stations, crashed ships that sort of thing that give you a little window into what happened there if you scan the various data points. You choose what you want to concentrate on; pirating, bounty hunting, alien hunting, hauling goods, passengers (or slaves for the Empire) or leave civilization and explore the galaxy. It's a 1:1 model of the Milky Way and less than 1% of it has been explored and mapped by players. It does have a bit of learning curve to get into so you do need the patience for that. I'm 400hrs in and I'm still learning things. Personally that's part of the fun for me but I know that is not for everyone.
You can switch between playing solo, in a private group or in open on the fly with the same account so if you don't fancy being ganked in busy areas you can switch to solo. You can still see people in chat even if in solo mode. You can also see people's fleet carriers in all modes you just won't see commanders flying about in solo, only NPC ships.
If you want to play in a server with other players without the PVP aspect there are the Mobius servers that you can sign up to. I recommend getting into the Elite community to see what the game actually offers and how the systems work. I learned a lot from YouTube videos, the sub-Reddit and the Twitch community. A lot of it you just learn as you go though so try not to feel intimidated. You learn it as you need it.
Another thing I recommend for the game is voice recognition software called Voice Attack paired with the HCS Voice Packs. This lets you use your microphone to control aspects of your ship through voice commands. If you own more than one voice pack you can assign them to different controls. There are some celebrities who have made voice packs. For example Leo is Norman Lovett AKA Holly from Red Dwarf, Midnight is Tom Baker the 4th Doctor, Vasco is the amazing Brian Blessed, Orion is William Shatner etc.
To celebrate Elite Dangerous being free on Epic this week HCS are offering the Kate voice pack for free if you use the code mentioned in the description on this page. You can use the demo of Voice Attack to try it out.
Anyway enough rambling from me. Hope I may have tempted a few people to try it out. Also don't forget the sacred rule: Never fly without a rebuy.

Edited to add: The servers are getting swamped right now so if you get any weirdness when trying to sign in with your new account this is probably why.

^ Thanks for the info on the game Catbaloo! I might try it because of your post I'm not into the multiplayer aspect of it, so if I try it that would be the solo mode. I love sci-fi and usually get my fix in No Man's Sky.

Epic Games has started it's 15 days of free games where they are giving away one game for 24hrs every day. So you need to check back each day to make sure that you don't miss any. Today's free game is Cities Skylines base game. It's free until 4pm UK time tomorrow. (Just over 22hrs from the time of this post) There are a couple of small DLCs for CS that are normally freebies so take a look through the DLC list so you can claim those as well. www.epicgames.com/site/en-US/home

^That is a pretty incredible little event! Thank you for alerting us!! I've already downloaded and installed Prison Architect, and am in the process now of installing Cities Skylines...I have no clue if I'll even like either of these, but definitely worth trying while they're free!

Dang I missed out on free. I bought it from the Steam sale but at least it has the packs. I played it when it came out but got bored after the end. I'm up for building some guest death traps to the Indo Rex enclosure again.

Jurassic World Evolutions looks like a solid game, I'd wager one of the best from the Epic holiday giveaway but there are strong contenders! Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one who turns the dinos loose on my guests! I've done the same in the old Zoo Tycoon games.

Just claimed Jurassic World Evolutions! While I like the company’s other games (Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster) I never bought Jurassic World Evolution because of sandbox mode. For the people who play it, do you still have to unlock sandbox mode? And do you still have to unlock all the dinosaurs within sandbox mode? (Versus everything being unlocked from the start)

I haven't been playing anything recently, other than petz! I'd worked my way through most of FFXII-TZA just before Christmas, but I got a little over-saturated with it and haven't touched it since. There was some DLC released for Devil May Cry 5 just before Christmas, which I bought but waited until the 25th to play as a little present to myself, had an absolute blast with it. Started getting my backside handed to me on harder difficulties though, haha.
Part of me is itching to replay Prey 2017 (anyone else into 0451/stealth/immersive sim games?) and I keep thinking about playing Alien: Isolation but I'm too chicken to start it, hahaha! Plenty of other stuff in my Steam library to go to, just haven't got the oomph yet.

So I just bought Stardew Valley during the latest sale. I played it a little bit 5 years ago, and so much has been added since, so I'm definitely starting over!!
But I'm so indecisive... cannot make up my mind wich farm I should go for. Which would you recommend for a new game? I'm kind of leaning towards the Forest Farm because I find it very pretty, but yeah, doesn't have that much space, huh? What about the new Beach Farm? Oh... all that sand without sprinklers... but so pretty! Another one I'm considering is the Four Corner Farm, because I might want to play co-op and it seems the best suited for that, and lots of space, but kinda ugly/boring-looking.
I DUNNO!!
Which one have you personally played? Which is your favorite and why? Which is your least favorite and why?
Or should I maybe have *2* separate saves/characters, one for singleplayer, and one to play in co-op mode? And, if so, which farms would be best for each? (I don't even know if I'd want to put myself through playing 2 separate games at the same time -- what a grind...)

Ratqueen I say go standard farm! When the game first came out I want to say it was the only option, and it’s the most basic and open so I think it’s good for when you haven’t played in a while. It does really depend on how you want to play though. Do you want to grow a bunch of crops? Have a bunch of animals? Both? If so you’ll need a lot of open space for both. I just like the space the standard farm provides. As for co-op, I say do a second save file unless you plan to play co-op 90% of the time, otherwise your main farm will just have a random house there all the time in case someone joins you for co-op. As for which map for co-op, depends on how you play. If you plan on really working together and designing the whole farm together, maybe standard or it could be a great time to go for something unique like the forest one. If you plan on each doing your own thing, four corners might be fun. I’m on mobile right now so I’ll make the link pretty later sorry but there’s a stardew planner online here: stardew.info/It might help to plan out your farm and see what fits on the different maps! I have stardew on the pc but play on switch. I adore the game and actually have only ever had one save file! I would always restart harvest moon saves but I just like the stardew save I have, which uses the standard farm. If you click on the farm planner and find the jumino huts and turn on the junimo hut outline/radius thing, it will highlight the area/radius in which the junimos will collect crops. You can do the same with iridium sprinklers to see what size area they’ll water. Hopefully that makes sense. Anyway my standard farm has a bunch of silos, a fish pond and room for more, slime building, 2 barns, 2 coops, and 4 or 5 junimo hut areas worth of crops, which is a lot. I also have 2 sheds that I use for making wine and open space for growing grass to chop for silos. I love having animals and basically just being a winery lol. I’d also be happy to try to recreate my farm on that planner site if you want to see a standard farm map layout example. Edit: do you know who you’re marrying? I was more indecisive about that then my farm map I think haha. Edit2: forgot to add while I’ve never used it the river farm seems least enticing to me, I feel like having animals and crops would be too tough. The beach one is one I’m not sure I’d personally pick either.

Thanks for the info, RebeccaMonkey ! I'm not really sure what I want to do with my farm, as I don't know what's the best path to advance yet. I know I want to end up with everything as optimized as possible on my farm to limit the grind. I'd probably enjoy having a little bit of both crops and animals, if that can work out. I can't even remember what marrying someone entails (I'm sure I agonized over it back then, if I even got that far, can't quite remember, but I'm pretty sure I had looked into it). That planner is going to be invaluable to pick my farm and plan a layout!! Thank you for the link! I don't know about the Standard farm... that's the one I played on years ago, of course, as that was the only one available back then. I'm still leaning towards that pretty Forest Farm for my solo play, and maybe the Four Corner one for co-op. I hate being so indecisive about things like that! What's the reason behind the winery? Is it a particularly good crop to cultivate? Who did you marry? Or maybe I shouldn't know? Do you have a screenshot of your farm layout?

Ratqueen with all the updates to the game, the great part is there are a lot of good ways to make money! Also sorry for the long post ahead, there's soooo much to do in stardew, so many details, and so many ways to play haha. I would say if you're leaning towards the forest farm then you should go with it. You can fit crops and animals there. And if you don't have room to have as many crops or animals as you'd like for money-making purposes, you can always have a secondary source of income! There's soooo many things in game it's almost overwhelming lol. I spend a ton of time on the wiki after each update comes out, mainly to make sure I don't miss anything (like if there's some really good crop seeds I can only get in the winter, I'd want to know before I miss it). So the wiki is a great resource for money-making ideas.
You're welcome for the link! I hate being indecisive about stuff like the farm layout too since you can't change it. As for the winery, it's a really good way to make money. I don't know what you consider spoilers for stardew valley or if you mind spoilers. There's so much you learn as you play through the game or read the wiki. So I guess what I'm saying is I'll explain my reason for the winery in the next paragraph (which includes info on areas/crops/skills you don't start the game with) but feel free to skip it!
-The winery - I have a shed full of kegs to make starfruit wine. Once you level up enough in a certain skill (I forgot which sorry), you can get a perk so artisan goods like wine are worth more. I have that, plus wine is already worth a decent amount, especially starfruit wine (which I want to say is worth the most out of all the wines). Anyway, once you unlock the desert, the shop owner there, Sandy, sells star fruit seeds. Star fruit only grows during the summer and takes 30 days to grow, I want to say? It's worth a decent amount, it's just time consuming. Anyway, I grow the star fruit all year in my greenhouse since you can grow crops of any season there, put it in a keg when it's done, and then sell it (or age it in the basement barrels and sell it, so it's worth even more). When you sell a bunch of wine you get a pretty good chunk of money. Also my other shed has some mayonnaise and cheese makers so I can make those with milk/eggs and sell them everyday. It's a good daily source of cash, while selling wine is something that happens less often but is pretty good monetary-wise.
Anyway, here is my farm layout! Since I play on the switch I can't get a good screenshot so I used the link I sent to make something that's close to my layout (based on memory). My farm is very automated. I have things in my coops and barns to auto collect eggs, milk, wool, etc. My crops within the green areas are auto watered and auto picked. I grow lots of grass to feed my animals in the winter (the grass goes to the silos which auto feeds my animals). I can't remember if I can move the greenhouse with the planner tool, but since the greenhouse is now moveable in game, I moved it back and to the left a little bit.
As for marriage, I think it's fine to say who I married; I married Emily! If I had to guess, the top 2 bachelors people marry are shane and sebastian and for bachelorettes, leah and abigail. Dunno if that's accurate though. Before I play a game with marriage, I look up the people you can marry to pick who I think I want lol, since that's mainly based on looks (and a bit based on their personalities according to the wiki), it's kind of vain haha. I think before playing my top picks for marriage were harvey, shane, and abigail.
Anyway, feel free to skip this, this post is so long already omg, but I'm just going to talk a little about marriage in game. Once I actually played, I found that I tended to like the people I ran into more, simply because I talked to them more and they were just easy to find. I think I actually befriended elliot first, who is my last pick tbh. It's definitely worth getting to 8 hearts with everyone by talking to them and giving them gifts, and I certainly wouldn't pick my spouse based on who is easiest to run into (since you'll see them on the farm everyday after getting married). I would just get to a high heart level with everyone before you decide who to marry, as their personalities change! I found harvey a bit harder to get to know because he closes his dang clinic so early, and I just really liked emily's personality. Up until the end though I was reallyyyy indecisive between abigail and emily (I ended up not marrying shane for weird picky reasons I won't go into now since this is already so long) but picked emily. For some reason though recently I went through a spell of really liking alex haha!
