Is a Dali/Mut mix ok as long as somewhere down the line it looks like a dali but with some of the mut markings or does there also have to be sheep dog in it? The sheep dog was pretty much my main problem because it didn't matter if I breed it with a mutt or dali of either gender the pup always looked like a sheep dog and even breeding that pup with other dalis or mutts the pup still turned out to look like a sheep dog. I couldn't get the sheep dog look to go away.

The sheepdog is necessary if you wish to have a halfie Tamsin (like the colors on a sheepie). No Tamsin is required to be halfie. Most of mine aren't seing as I don't prefer the look. Honestly, the only reason I like any tamsins that have sheepdog in them is for the fuzzy coat.

Here's the way I do it: First, I breed a Dalmation and a Mutt together and if you're very lucky, you may get a Tamsin right away. Most of the time you don't, however, so I'll take out another Dalmation and Mutt pair and breed them. The offspring of these two pairs should look as close to a Tamsin as possible so sometimes it takes several (and I mean several) litters of babies to get close to what you're looking for. I'll breed those two together, and hopefully the offspring will look even more Dalmation-like. If they're not quite there, I'll breed two first generation Dalmations together to get a colored son/daughter, then breed it in to see if it doesn't make the next generation more Dalmation-like. Once I finally get a Tamsin and I'd like to add characteristics from other breeds (like Sheepdogs), I'll start another side-project. I'll breed two pairs of a Dalmation with a Sheepdog, and basically follow the process above. That's just the way I do it though, and it may not work for everyone or be the most efficient way. I don't do inbreeding or use petz from other people for breeding though, so it REALLY can take forever.

How'd I do for my first try? Also if you breed Tamsins how do you claime that they are a Tamsin when in the profile it will show mix or unknown?

Tamsins are just that, a mix, a selective breed. Most people know what a Tam looks like, or they're just happy to have a pretty dog. ^^

It'll say "Mix" or sometimes "Dalmation," but it won't ever say "Tamsin" because it's a user-created name for the breed. Just like Selena said, most people know what the general standard for Tamsins is. This is really close, but not quite! The dog has a Mutt's tail. You can tell this because it's thicker than a Dalmation tail, especially near the base of the tail. Here's one of my Tams, so check out the difference between the tails! Edit: Then again, thinking about it, I guss it doesn't matter if the standard is "any" type of tail, so I guess that would be a Tamsin. I've just never seen a Tamsin with a Mutt tail before xD It's usually Dalmation or Sheepie, etc.

Just wanted to add but if you're starting a Tamsin line from scratch, you have to make sure they breed true. I hate nothing more than if I adopt a nice Tamsin or a nice Labrador mix only to have them pass on a Sheepie head or something that isn't what they look like. Drives me absolutely crazy and I end up avoiding adopting from the person because of it later on.
Tamsins in the community, generally, are Dalmatians with funky colours. So while a Mutt tail is acceptable, I'd be wary about actually breeding them like that because some members may not like a thicker tail. Some members prefer the 'rejects' which Chihuahua ears or a Sheepie tail or sheepie feet, etc.

I think for your first try that dog is pretty good. Better than my first attempts at breeding tams I recall! XD Althugh like Artemis said, some people may not be keen on mutt characteristics breeding in like the tail, but for a first attempt I think you should be proud. Thats a really nice dog (love the selfie eyelids) that if I did'nt have enough already, I would be happy to adopt.
