When you breed these dogs together does it make a difference which ones are females and which ones are males?

When you breed these dogs together does it make a difference which ones are females and which ones are males? I've wondered this myself. You'll get the same results either way in the end, but I've always had more luck if the Mutt was a male and the female was a Dalmation - at least in the first few generations while I'm trying to breed for the Dalmation body type and head. It just seems to happen more quickly than if I have a first-generation female Mutt and a male Dalmation.

From what I understand, tamsins can have other markings too. Dali spots, scottie toes, German shepherd saddles, jack russel patches, sheepie halfie markings, boots, socks, etc. Basically they can have any combination of markings as long as they have at least one mutt patch somewhere. I know that bulldog and chihuahua chest patches by themselves don't count.
I'm pretty sure the ears and legs don't necessarily have to be dali either. Mutt ears, chi ears, dane ears, etc. where all okay from what I heard. Same with the legs, any are acceptable. I think it's just a matter of preference. Like dali ears and legs may be preferred, but not required for the dog to be considered a tamsin.

The tail is preferred to be Dali, but optional. That's from the original standard. I think you're right about the ears too, but I'm 99% sure that the torso/head/legs have to be Dalmatian, otherwise we'd have a lot more people claiming Tamsins as opposed to Tamsin rejects.
Found a quote of the original standard:
That's from Starswept, as you used to register your Tamsins on that site. It's gone since it was a Geocities site, but that's the standard.

Out of curiousity: what is the average number of generations does it take from 1st gen dali & mutt {sheepie} to an acceptable tamsin? And do many people inbreed to speed up the proccess?

I don't know if that or this is considered spam but I know in the past they were really popular. I don't know why they wouldn't be now. Maybe if people start breeding them agian they might get popular agian.

How do you go about breeding them. I've spent the last 2 1/2 3 hrs breeding dalmatians, Mutts and Sheepdogs in different ways and have come up with nothing. Is there an easier way to do this? I'm starting to go insane and ready to give up.

There's no easy way, unfortunately. It just takes a lot of time and dedication.

And tamsins/dali mixies in general are definitely still quite popular. xD These are most of mine - and I have caved and adopted a few more since then: click! They're practically the only bred petz I adopt. >_> My favorite bred dogz by far.
