I received my petz from the recent swap, and two out of the five don't work... It says my OB GD file is missing from the game, I've double checked and my OB dane file was not corrupted and was in game. I started some hexing work this afternoon after, and they still don't work... I would like to be able to fix these petz as I've given something in return for them, so I'd be kinda annoyed if they don't work after I try something...

If it's a bred pet, you may need a specific OW to get them to work properly. I've had that happen to me with PA petz.
Also, why did you post here? Be patient and wait for the original person to email you back about it as I read that you emailed them. The person who bred/hexed the pet is really the only person that can help you.

Actually Artemis, Selena told me to post a topic, so I'm sorry if it seems rude or whatever. And the summer swap only swaps petz that DON'T need extra files. ;] But thanks for your suggestions!

Well, that isn't an extra file. So maybe you should consider my suggestion, because some OWs are tempermental and you will need them in order for your pet to work, even if it isn't technically an extra file. OW means overwriting, not extra file.

^ I did tell her to post the question to get some help.
And like Artemis said, sometimes you need the OW for them to work.

I know, but I don't really want to not be able to breed danes because one pet needs an OW... And I thought you made it clear no extra files needing petz were going to be swapped? None of the petz I swapped needed OWs...

I didn't know that they needed an extra OW file, most OWs work without needing them, but Artemis is suggesting you try it. So I would suggest trying it.
Furthermore, I don't run the P4 part, I had no idea they needed an extra file or it could just be your game. So try the bloody suggestion that Artemis is suggesting and see if it works or not.

And this is why you wait for the person's response to your email. They might be able to breed you a different dane if this is such a problem. It is NOT considered an extra file so don't keep complaining that you need an extra file because it is an OW and that is not needing an extra file. An extra file is need like, the PDH Mudi file or something, people use OWs all the time for breeding.
This is a common thing with the different Aussie files as well, because even though they all OW each other, sometimes you can only use the one you bred your dog with.
Also, did you make sure your Dane file isn't hexed/did you try redownloading it?

This is really strange! I never ever use hexed files when breeding, hm. I still have Lanty so maybe I can resend him to you? If it still doesn't work, I would be perfectly happy with breeding you a new pet. :)

Selena, I thought mods were supposed to try and set an example? I mean, if I went round saying stuff like that at people who asked me a question, and then smited them(Which is obviously done by one of you, or someone randomly, as I have been polite through-out the forum with no reason for anyone to smite me.) you'd probably ban me or something. I'm just a little confused? Besides, I don't know which OW it could possibly be, and Cheaco says Lanty doesn't need one anyway... @cheaco - Thanks so much! If you wouldn't mind sending him again, that would be great! :] bubblegumpetz@hotmail.co.uk kalaia - I know, I guess I've just gotta such it up and get on with it. BTW Fallout is doing great.

Sent. :)
I try to avoid forum arguments, but this one really rubbed me wrong. First, Atremis, bubblegum didn't say she emailed the original people, she emailed bubblewrap. Before you say something rude, you should have the decency to go back and check if your facts are straight. Also, if a OW was required for a file to work, I would consider that "needing an extra file." The person would need that file for when they wanted to play with that pet, plus the original for when they want to breed normal petz. I believe that's what bubblegum was trying to say. I would be ticked off too, so cut her some slack!

Wow, talk about jumping on someone for asking a question... Yeah I agree :/ And for the record, I've never heard of overwrites causing issues with .pet files. Overwrites are just a hexed version of an original breed left ingame; once they're bred from the .pet just becomes a normal great dane/dali/whatever the OW breed was. It's like my GSD file: if you breed with it ingame, the puppies come out as great danes. If you remove the OW file from the game those puppies will still work. It doesn't make any difference. Non-ows would as they're separate breedfiles. If you bred a dane with a, say, PDH Mudi, you'd need the PDH Mudi file (if there even is one lol) for that bred pet to work

Thanks Loxie...
So technically, this OW shouldn't make a difference to my game... It must be some sort of glitch?
Thanks for the help guys, but what should I actually do, I mean, I've sent in petz that have been swapped with other players and I end up with less? I'll try and find out the contact details of these people, and ask them to send the file again? And say that didn't work...?
