So, this isn't really a "Help, what do I do??" situation...but rather hopefully, a solution for someone down the road like me. Because honestly, I didn't put it together until just now. x'DDD
Every so often, my Petz game randomly hits an issue. It'll load up all but the last few bits of the loading bar...then just sits there forever. I have to shut it down. It refuses to open any more after this point, and will CONTINUE to do this every single time. I never understood what was 'breaking' my game. Especially since I played it earlier today, it worked FINE, and I didn't add anything to the game, and now suddenly it won't open??
My fix for this problem has ALWAYS been to reset the registry. It always works, it fixes the problem right away. But it annoys me to the very depths of my soul because EVERY FREAKING PLAYSCENE has their toys reset to default!! x___x I mean yeah, I get it, that's kind of what you're doing. But I HATE IT. I always have my favorite scenes with a select number of toys out that we like playing with...and I have to go fill those scenes from scratch all over again. It makes me INSANE.
Then, it hit me. I brought some toys out in a new scene earlier. Could that be the problem? To test, I took that entire playscene out of the game for a moment.
It loaded up instantly!! Put it back in...it's crashing again!! So I took out a DIFFERENT scene that had toys, so I could load the new problem one, I packed all the toys back into the Toy Closet, leaving it empty, and put my other scene back in. (Basically just cleaned up the scene I'd left a mess earlier.)
AND THE GAME WORKS. x___x
So while I don't know what the limit IS...apparently there is a limit to how many scenes can hold toys before the game is like "LOL No, I'm not going to load all that crap again."
I guess this means I have to be more aware, and limit how many scenes have toys out, and clean up the ones I'm not using. xDD It's a hassle to bring stuff to scenes to keep Petz occupied all the time, but I guess I don't have a choice!
The short version!
If you're like me and leave toys out in multiple scenes, eventually the game won't load anymore. Make sure to limit how many scenes have toys laying around, and clean up the ones you're not using! It might just fix the game! x'DD
