I'm lucky enough to still own my very first petz. Though many petz have been lost in between, I've always managed to find a copy of these guys, no matter how long it's been since I've last played. Lucky is the very first pet I ever adopted, all the way back in January of 2004, making her almost 11 years old. I can still remember the day I adopted her. After looking at all the dogz available in Dogz 4, I decided that I wanted to adopted a male yellow lab and call it Lucky (this was before I knew Lucky was the default name). However, the adoption center was only sending out female yellow labs. My brother, impatient to adopt his own pet, urged me to just adopt a female one, and I eventually gave in to his request. Thus, Lucky came into existence. I also am very fortunate to own the first pet my brother every adopted: Chip (named before he knew the default name for Scotties was also Chip). Chip was also adopted that very same day in 2004, making him nearly 11 as well. The unique thing about Chip is that he always wears blue socks. They were put on him by my brother shortly after he was adopted, and have been rarely taken off since. They're just part of who Chip is. I also still own their two daughters, Lucky Charms and Chocolate Chip. Though not quite as old as Lucky or Chip, they still date back to 2004. Lucky Charms also hold the honor of being my first 2nd Generation pet. Even after all this time, Chip and Lucky are still deeply in love... and it looks like Lucky Charms and Chocolate Chip are going to have a new little brother or sister real soon. Anyways, that's the story of my two oldest petz. What's yours?

Man, I have to say, I'm seriously jealous! <3 I would be insanely happy if I still had my first petz, but I lost them to corruption SO many years ago. If corruption hadn't been an issue, they'd still be here today, and probably would be some of my most played with petz.
Anyway nostalgic happy little petz stories like this really warm my heart. I absolutely loved your post. xD

I'm glad you like the post, and that sucks about your first petz corrupting. I've made about a billion backups of these guys now, but before I knew about that, I very nearly lost them.
The first time I ever quit playing petz was when one of my dogz ran away. I don't even remember which dog it was, all I remember is that I was too upset to even launch the program anymore, and I quit cold turkey that day. A few years later, my parents got a new computer and I began playing petz again. At this point, I has either forgotten or didn't care about my old crew, and they remained on the old PC. Even more years passed, and in 2008ish, I began to wonder about the fate of my old petz. I questioned my mom about the old computer that I used to play petz on, and she said the computer was still around, although it had since been banished to a dusty corner of the basement, and it was unknown if it even still worked, much less if it still had my old petz on it.
Luckily, we still had an old keyboard, mouse, and monitor to use with it, and after plugging everything in, the computer turned on. I eagerly navigated to the Program Files folder, but something was amiss. I saw a copy of Dogz 3 installed, but no Dogz 4. Looking at the Dogz 3 install, there were a few petz adopted, but none that I recognized. Sadly, I accepted that my old petz were gone, until my mom mentioned that I should check the recycle bin. I saw a folder called Petz 4 and quickly restored it. Miraculously, all my old petz were there, including Lucky and Chip.
However, there was a problem. The CD drive on the computer was broke, and it was too old to accept a flash drive. My mom stepped in again, suggesting we copy all the petz onto a floppy disk, then use a slightly newer computer to copy the data from the floppies to a usb drive. The process worked, and my petz were safe.
I know this story probably sounds pretty crazy, but I swear that I really was that close to losing my petz, and I'm still so incredibly glad that I was able to save them.

Aw man, I love that 'rescue story' as well! Who knew they were so hard to get back...I've gone on hunts like that before to try and save old petz, so I know that feeling. Sadly for me, I came up empty most every time.
And I backup all my petz like crazy now. I have copies of everybody everywhere, because I'm determined to never lose another pet to corruption! It made me cry when I was younger, losing old petzy buddies like that. I still seriously miss the ones it took, and have copies of their corrupt files saved still, in 'memory' of them. I can't bring myself to delete them, even though they're blank now.

Sophisto is my oldest Petz! She was adopted all the way back in Petz II, sometime in 1998. Technically, she was my brother's cat, and back then we switched up our adopted Petz fairly often, but he always held on to Sophisto. She was the only Petz either one of us imported when we got Petz 3, actually. My brother hasn't played Petz for years and years and years now, but I still consider her his cat as much as mine. Pouncer was also adopted back in Petz II, but I think some time after Sophisto. We didn't originally import him--he was just some random cat my brother adopted and neither of us really gave him much thought. But one day in January of 1999, I decided to play Petz 1 and 2 before opening up Petz 3. The original Sophisto was still on our Petz II game, and when I took her out to play, Pouncer came to the door, too. I took him out and was floored by what happened next--the two of them started cooing and circling each other and acting all lovey-dovey--in Petz II! Petz couldn't breed back then, they didn't even have genders! But when I quickly opened up Petz 3, imported Pouncer, and took him out with Sophisto, I swear like thirty seconds later she was pregnant. And they are still as in love as they ever have been! I have a lot of older Petz that were adopted in 1998/1999 and thereabouts, but these two, being adopted in Petz II, are definitely my oldest, and they're also the biggest lovebirds I've ever seen in all of my Petz playing days.

Awww, I'm so jealous of you guys who still actually have your oldest Petz! ;__; Mine were lost long, long ago. I think I had some from 2004-2005 or so backed up on my old external hard drive that died several years back. sighs. I remember my (mom's lol) first Petz being a chinchilla persian and a russian blue... I think I had a persian and an alley cat when I got the game myself, and then later an orange shorthair named Sea. I also downloaded about 80000 Petz from Sand'z Cattery hahaha. Well... I was pretty sure I wouldn't have any of my pre-2011 Petz still, but decided to look anyway because what could it really hurt??? Rummaging through a back-up of files from my old desktop, I found a folder titled "Petz" with an Adopted Petz folder inside. Dated back to 2011. I didn't recognize some of the names, so I decided to pop them into my game. A lot were "corrupted" (which I just realized are actually some purebred calicoes from P5), but two popped out in particular to me... First, I noticed this random 2nd gen oshie/tabby mix, Dennis: I didn't think a whole lot of him until I saw this random 2nd gen MC/BW mix, Owl, who still had (has) a little aged 0 baby attached to her: (This is the pic that was in the folder with them, btw.) I suddenly very very very vaguely remembered having these Catz a few years back. I checked Owl's profile, and lo and behold, I'd actually written a note in it saying she was the first pet I bred after reinstalling Petz. D'awwwwww. Granted, this was only back in 2011 LOL, but that means she's still the first pet I bred in almost 7 years! <3 She at least dates back to me still having XP on my old desktop hahaha. I can't believe I forgot about her and her boyfriend, Dennis! He was born the same day as she was, meaning he was also one of the very first ones I bred after reinstalling the game. And judging from the fact that their baby was born 10-11 days or so after they were, and they were only aged 50-something or so, I had actually naturally raised them. T__T........ for like 2 weeks before stuffing them in a folder somewhere and forgetting them. But still! I actually used to play Petz like that??? Seriously??? I mean, I do raise some of my Petz naturally still, but it's somehow weird to think about. I don't know why. XD I decided to dress them up and play with them a little, since they've been in a folder neglected for almost 4 years now. Now, in Owl's profile, there was also a note saying she loved to carry things in her mouth. So, naturally, the only thing she did the entire time I was playing with them was pick their daughter Ofelia up in her mouth and just stand there trying to look pretty. Every time I coaxed the kitten out of her mouth, she'd ignore her for a second before eating her again LOL. I suddenly feel so attached to these Catz again! ;___; I can't believe I forgot them. I remember thinking Owl was so pretty with her big green eyes. <3 Guess who's going back in my crew now! :D It's so funny, because I (and most players) don't really put much of any value to AC Petz/low gens... I forgot how cute and special they really can be, including the ones you guys have posted so far. :) Edit: Oh, now I see why I foldered and forgot them. I actually moved out of my house a couple days after Ofelia was born, and I ended up getting a new computer immediately after. I probably didn't install the game immediately, so I forgot about my backed-up Petz X_X... Oops.

Out of all of my Petz, out of all of my beautiful mixies I have, I think I would be the most devastated if something happened to Sophisto and Pouncer, and the first four Petz (my brother and) I adopted in Petz 3 (Princess, Aaron, Dana, and Rufus). I know that they're all just "replaceable" first gens, but they have so much history and personality... I don't even want to think of how I'd feel if I lost them. ^^;

I think it's just that they're your oldest/your first, which makes them very special, and I also would be very upset if something happened to them. Like these guys here. All four adopted the very first day I played petz, October 21st, 2000. I started with Petz 3, and thus it's the version that has a special place in my heart. Sparky and Chance, being the very first. Sparky's a very serious fellow while Chance is just a really sweet goof, and the two didn't get along so well in the beginning. But after some time, they became best friends. Then along comes the next two, Marco and Toodles. Toodles becoming Chance's love interest. Their puppy was the first ever second gen in my game. I remember cherishing him a lot because of it lol, and I still have him too. Marco and Toodles

Aw, how sweet. The first pet I adopted was a cream siamese named Tali, I remember he had a wife (also cream siamese) and a daughter and they were my favorite petz. But I lost them when I changed computer (I didn't know where the game files were and how they worked). However, I think I might still have the hard drive, so I might be able to recover them! That would be wonderful. If I find them I'll post a more detailed story it was wonderful reading all of these posts though

My first pet, way back in 98 or 99 (can't remember) was a Dalmatian. I believe his name was Pongo (how original lol) I bred him to a great dane female who I forget the name of or what she looked liked, but their resulting offspring (my first 2nd gen) was an all while dali with dane body/legs/tail. I named him Link.
I have no clue which my first Catz were, but i remember my first 3rd gen was a cat I named Atlantis. He was a mix of Alley, Russian Blue and Maine Coon. He had the head and body of a RB, the tail of a MC and had alley spots. He was tan with ice blue eyes and I loved that cat.
I lost them all sadly. =[

It must have been 2000 or 2001 that I started playing petz. I don't have any of my old petz from back then, but for some reason whenever I had to reinstall P3/4 I would always adopt two dalis named Holly and Spots (I was a very creative child ). When P5 came out, I fell in love with the GSD file and would also always adopt a GSD named Virgo, which I thought I made up at the time but later found out it was an actual thing lol, and obviously another Holly dali. My computers were prone to crashing all the time and I was too young to know how to access the petz folders and save my petz before the inevitable happened.
But since early December I've started anew with Dog the Rabbit (I was new to dog hexes, so I was surprised lol), Slinky, and their baby Bonny. I adopted other AC petz around the same time, but these ones were my favorite by far.

I started playing petz in 2007 when I was 10 in P5. These two, Lola and Fonto were the first pets I ever adopted. I adopted a few more on the same day but I can't even remember their names. These two were by far my favorites and I loved these two so much. They had three daughters, Lana (who's mutated paw color had me thinking I'd broken the game), Lolly and another who I was unable to recover, Lopsy Daisy. These three were my first ever litter and I loved them and raised them to adulthood with care. Lola and Fonto also had numerous grandchildren from all three of their daughters. Cor (son of Lopsy Daisy and a second gen Labrador) and Monty Jr son of Lopsy Daisy and a first gen mutt are pictured. The last group of pets I rediscovered and was able to remember were May (Siamese) and Rose (GSD). At first when I found the files I thought nothing of Rose then I looked into her profile and it all came flooding back. Rose was spayed. I spayed a pet back when I thought it was irreversible. When I adopted these two my crew was getting unaturally large so I decided rather than adopting another pair of cats to breed (I had just installed C5, this was about a year after I started playing) I would adopt a dog and a cat so I wouldn't be tempted to breed them. All my petz used to have one friend to come out with and these two were very tight (closer than many of the 'mates' I had who couldn't stand each other) I spayed Rose partially to see what would happen and if it would change her and partially so I wouldn't be tempted to breed her. These two were only just registered as adults when I rediscovered them. Kind of ironically it's only because I returned all these pets (back when returning was deleting) that I was able to save any at all. I got to a point when I had too many pets (it must have been over 100 before I knew petz A even existed) and pretty much every day i would have some pets run away. At first it didn't really bother me as I was just losing random pets I only adopted and played with once and then one day the unthinkable happened. Fonto ran away. I cried and I cried and luckily the next day I eventually found him on the billboard by the adoption center. But my beloved pets kept running away and I knew something needed to be done. So I decided to return pretty much everything even though it broke my heart. I returned every single one of my first gens, all but one of each purebred litter, all the ugly offspring I only kept a handful of pets and it broke my heart but at least I thought I could start over and give the prettier, rarer pets the love they deserved. I always kind of imagined that Lola, Fonto, Lolly, Lana, Rose, May, Cor, Monty jr and all the others found another home. Without these pets my love of the game fizzled out and I quit playing for a time. I came back a few years later for a bit and discovered Petz A and the PC but I thought my old files were lost forever. Turns out we still had the computer my old files were on and last year I dug through it looking for Lola and Fonto. The adopted pets folder was gone but I salvaged the returned pets folder (it was all I could save) and got my babies back. EDIT: Looks like I too will soon be having a litter from my original pets. I forgot to close petz 5 and Lola is now pregnant.... Fingers crossed for a small litter.
