hi there! i've been spending the past few days trying to get some good pose pics of all my guys, and i'd say it's been going decently, all things considered. however, i had a question about alignment, using one of my petz as an example; in image 1, she has a tightly curved tail and heart nose, but her eyes are uneven by one pixel. in image 2, she has even eyes and heart nose, but her tail isn't curved as tightly. so, in your opinion(s), what is more important/looks nicer?

I would be a lot more likely to place the first image. The overall dog looks put together, balanced and at the highest breathing point.

I would agree with Kayota! The tail looks nicer, but so does the rest of the dog, the head/chest/ears look nicer and more balanced on the first, even though the eyes aren't level, which at a glance I can't even tell that.
And its not necessarily that the tail is more important though, its the overall look of it that counts too. I don't often look at the pixel height/evenness of the eyes unless they actually look way off, then I might measure that. Overall look, toe/wrist alignment, tail, breathing point are most important to me and what I seem to notice from other judges. Nose after all that - some petz look good with a heart nose, and some don't (and some can't even achieve heart nose). I know most judges will place a heart nose higher, but some judges do like non-heart noses on dalis (and other petz) and will judge them equally. And on that token keep in mind, due to a petz scales and extension values they may not even be able to achieve that "perfect" pose - like even toes and eyes, it literally may not be possible, and judges need to keep that in mind too, that not every pet can be pixel perfect and that's ok.

thank you both so much for your input!! it's much appreciated ~ (and i'm thankful that my instincts were correct, makes me feel a bit more confident in judging the best pose frames for the rest of my crew lol) i'm also glad for the point Megan made about scales/extension values; i didn't know exactly what was causing it, but i figured it was something game-function-related along those lines. Broadflash is actually an example of what you're talking about! when i was first taking screenshots i thought, maybe if i get her toes perfectly aligned then i can get all three perfect(tail, eyes, & nose) but she physically can't. i can get her one pixel back like above, but every time i get them even, her back foot moves forward once she starts posing, unaligning her. and i know it's not from lack of skill because i've gotten many other dogz to align with even toes.
i don't mind it though; posing and entering shows are just extra things to do for fun! and i'm having fun ~ ^^

I'll add as well that I've found it is normal for dalis with AC proportions (like most hexed files are based off) to have eyes and toes 1 px off, if aligned by wrist and the desirable heart nose achieved! These are my dogz at the peak breath, I've trialled with a few other AC dalis and concluded the same result. A couple of examples below, and a PB NIB dali for comparison. vs I can't see the first image but by the description it would sound right! In my shows I do take this into consideration, as far as I'm concerned it's the best 1st gen / AC proportioned hexes can do pose wise :]
