You know how the poodle and Alley have extra LNZ files that control the looks of 2nd gens? I got bored and did some testing with them and it turns out you can not only delete them if you don't need them (hence the lion cut baby up there) but add them into other breedfiles that don't have them!
All you have to do is export the adult and baby lnz, add them back to the file as RAW_(lnzname), and the game will pick up on any changes to the raws when you breed them:
If you'll forgive the horrible five minute hexing job (fuzzy horns, whyyy), this mutt came from a file with raws added to make 2nd gens have a steel grey coat and uh... what are meant to be horns and not weird old TV antennae, honest. But it's a proof of concept. There's a few limitations, like you can't get past the scales and extensions limits, but you could make 2nd gens that look subtly different to the parents (like the base game poodle and alley) or completely different.
Obviously I did this late at night on a Friday instead of being cool, so my guesses may be off base and in need of correction. But this could be another cool underrated feature to add to your files.

This is such a cool guide! I didn't know that about the poodle or alley cat (so I feel like I'm not the target audience of this) but I like the idea that you can add your own raw lnz! I wonder what ideas it could be used for!
