This is a trial show, constructive criticism and ideas are welcome.
This show follows more realistic protocols than standard pose shows. The entries will be split into breed/type rings (which will be decided based on entries) based on the Kennel Club's format (plus a mixie category).
As an example:
There are six dali/mostly dali mix entries. Out of these a Best of Breed and a Reserve Best of Breed* will be chosen, in addition to one Honorable Mention. In the great dane/mix ring there are only three entries, so only a BOB is chosen. In the scottie group, there are two entries so a HM is awarded. If there is only one entry for a breed I will try to match it with other loners so there is a chance to win, but it could reach the group ring anyway, so don't let small numbers put you off!
The winner of each breed will then move into the Group ring where it will be judged against the winners from the others in its group, and the top four will receive Group awards. The Group winners of each category will then go up against each other for the coveted Best In Show and Reserve Best In Show awards.
* Irl there would be a Best of Opposite Sex award but I don't think we'll have enough entries in most groups to make that viable.
While posing will be important in this show, how well that pose suits the dog, and how well it looks overall, will play a big role in judging. I won't be judging to real standards per se, but if you're showing a long-nosed breed like a borzoi, it would be better to see that long nose in a profile pose, whereas a short-nosed bulldog would be better face on.
Points will work as such:
BOB/RBOB - 4pts
HM - 3pts
Placing in Group 2-4 - + 1pt
Placing Group 1st - + 2pts
(if a dog gets to the group ring without any points from the breed ring, upgrade to HM)
Placing Reserve BIS - + 1pt
Placing BIS - + 2pts
(points are cumulative)
Breeds will be decided thus:
> If it looks entirely purebred, or has the head, body, legs and feet of one breed, it will be assessed as that breed. Ears, tail and coat don't matter.
> Generally recognised selective breeds such as tamsins and hounds may be entered under that breed. If you have your own selective breed that hasn't caught on yet, and you're entering at least four of that breed, enter it under your breed name with a link to the standard.
> If it looks like a non-poodle but poses like a poodle, it should be classed as mixed, and vice versa.
> If unsure, put a ? where asked and I'll assign it where I think it should be.
General rules:
> Dogz only. There should be no wildz or especially unrealistic hexies or unnatural colours in this show, as it's based on realism. If in doubt, please ask
> White background, no editing
> No clothes/toyz/etc.
> Adults only in this show
> Any pose, file or direction accepted (including poodle). Skinny poses or dogs that aren't actually posing will be DQ'd
> Max of 12 entries per person (if there aren't many entries near closing I'll open this up)
> This show will close on 18/03/2023

I would like to offer graphics to the winners, but I'm not very good at them, so I make no promises. (they were terrible, you're better off without disgracing your eyes)
