Hello, everyone !!

My name is Cara (you're free to call me Yeehaw if you'd like! I use she/her!) and one day, I very suddenly remembered playing Petz 5 as a little, little kid. I was obsessed with it then, but never knew about the fandom or any forums or some such! In fact, for a bit, I was convinced I had somehow made the game up, but was delighted to find it not only existed, but was still extremely active! During some downtime, I was looking up how I could play it again, and discovered this funny little game about adopting cats and dogs was a lot more complicated than I ever knew! I was mesmerized by the amazing creativity of everyone on this forum, and could hardly pull my eyes away from the showcases and posing tutorials. 
So, as such, I am very interested in playing this game again. I am very interested by the very fun and competitive side of it, and would love to hear any tips that I can, for anything at all! From where you all got your copies from, to what mods you have, how to install them, anything you'd like to share. Even if you're just here to say hello, I welcome you and hope you welcome me!

I have a similar story-- I was a young kid when I played Petz 4. While I did know about the community, "my mommy told me not to interact with strangers on the internet" soooo I never really joined or participated.
I also was quite shocked and ecstatic to discover this community in 2017! And all the things people are still discovering and building upon!

As for the competitive side: showing-- it's a lot of fun but it can be challenging at first. Some petz have certain traits that make them more willing to pose for competitions. Some petz are hyper and just want to run and play instead of standing still to get stack photos (yup just like real life). So, sometimes it's not even your fault!

If there's anything you want to start off with first, definitely ask! I'll do my best to answer :) I hope you enjoy!

Welcome to the forums!! I was also a kid who started P5, and found the community as an adult. It added so many new layers to my dear childhood game, from showing to trading to hexing. I've found it to be a boatload of fun, and I hope it ends up being great for you too!

Welcome! c: I too played as a kid, but didn't join the online community until adulthood. There's so much to do on the forums! Not just for chatting and making friends, but there's petz shows and various competitions (like stamp making, caption contests, etc). There's also creative outlets if that's your thing, like... stamp making xD but also learning to hex petz or toyz/other items is also a great creative outlet too.

As far as mods go... I like to collect new toyz and clothes. I'm more into decorating my petz home instead of filling it with new breeds. Unfortunately, I have so many different toys/clothes/playscenes that the game no longer loads with everything in. :/ I have to pick and choose what to have when I play. haha But I DO LOVE breeding petz!

Tips and advice: Don't overwhelm yourself with too many petz at once. It's hard to resist so many adorable petz up for adoption, but before you know it you will have a massive collection and you will probably end up wanting to downsize. So it's helpful if, like me, you force yourself to only adopt dogs you REALLY SERIOUSLY CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT, lol.

The link above is some pretty handy software you may choose to use in the game. It will allow you to get an inside look at how your petz are feeling, if they are sick or hungry, among other things, and you can even adjust it.

I also first discovered Petz as a kid and fell in love!! I kept playing on and off and was even apart of the PC in my early teens. I took a long hiatus but shortly after moving in with my now husband, I decided I really missed the game and community, so I came back for good.
