If you've bred a couple of your petz (for your own desire to, not a service etc.), how do you decide whether to keep or return/delete the offspring?
I base my decision for keeping or not on two main things: Do I like the way they look to begin with? And do I have a pet that already looks too similar to them? A third, less important reason would be whether any unique traits could be passed down if I chose to breed from the babies in the future.
Looks don't matter to me in real life (as someone who's rescued animals for years, it's never about looks, it's about whether I can provide them with a good home or not), but I let my superficial side out with Petz lol, so if I don't like how they look, I won't keep the babies I get.
My question is just curiosity but I sometimes have a hard time deciding to keep/return, so I wondered if anyone had different ways of deciding?

I won't be much help haha because my reasons are the same as yours - how they look, if I have similar petz already, if they'll pass down a unique trait. Usually if I consider them good looking but I have similar ones already, those ones go for adoption rather than deleting though.

Yep, I'm also pretty superficial with petz - interesting markings/colours, certain traits I wanted to pass down, those are the things I look for most of the time. I breed a lot so I also delete a lot. I usually know pretty quickly if a pet I've bred will be kept as part of my main 'crew' but I also hang onto a lot of others that just sit in folders to be (maybe) used for breeding purposes at some point. If I'm not sure or if I have very specific breeding aims I'll check offspring via GenePoolz too and discard stuff with wonky genetics. (Of course, sometime I fall prey to having bred something so weird and wonderful that I like how unconventional it is and end up keeping it... I have a few lumpy potato dogs I'm rather fond of!). And the other option is adopting out or selling the ones I don't keep.

I have a hard time too sometimes! I never return pets, though, I usually just delete them directly from the folder. I'm not the most organised but I usually have some folders and sort pets into them: - A folder for petz I'm planning on keeping. I place them there between breeding sessions and when I can, I place them in my regular game folders. - A folder for petz I'd like to adopt out, trade, gift, etc. - "Breeding" folder (for lack of a better name) for pets I'm not planning on keeping but would like to breed. For example, pets with specific traits, breeding pairs for a given project, and so on. - A "maybe" folder, where I place pets I'm unsure about. Then, when I have enough time, I try them out in my game and make a decision. A lot of my pets have eventually changed folders, like pets I wasn't going to keep but changed my mind about and are now members of my crew, or pets I was planning on breeding but didn't and adopted them out instead. I have a really hard time deleting pets because I worry about regretting it later. The ones I instantly delete are the ones that have gone very wrong, like glitchy pets. Finally, I'm a lot like you. I don't go by looks in real life, but looks matter to me a lot more when I'm playing petz (specifically, unique, weird, or even ugly pets). On the other hand, I've had some I didn't find very eye-catching but ended up keeping because they were so much fun to watch or play with when I put them in my game.
