I have the worst luck getting any of my petz to pose. More often than not, they just run around or do tricks. Even when they stand still, they're not posing. I don't know why this is
Then today, I was playing with some breeding experiment files and found a dog that seems to pose a lot.
How do I align her better? I think her legs/arms are aligned but her paws never seem to be aligned? What should I watch for? Thank you

Mixed breeds can be tougher to pose since they can have parts made up from all of the original breeds. On this dog, the fuzziness and the Sheepdog feet are going to make it a little tough. The general rule to remember is to align by the front wrists. It looks like you're actually pretty close already. The dog here might be a good example for you to look at due to the feet and fuzziness. However, your dog wasn't doing a proper pose in that shot, it looks like it was more just spooked by the camera. (No eyelids and ears all wonky.) To get the dog to pose, you drop it until it looks like it's standing aligned by the front wrists and then just start taking photos until it poses, then you snap photos while it is posing (if you have P4, just hold the spacebar down the whole time it's posing). I have a video that shows the process and you'll find more details on my website. This GIF will show you a dog going from normal standing, starting to pose, and on into a Dali and Dane pose. It puffs up and looks calm and serious. The frames with the yellow star are the ones that you would want to enter into shows. You can take a look at the dog showing guide at Reverie under the 'Tools' section for a ton more details. Hope that helps!

Jewellz thank you so much! That really helps a ton. I'm actually having a hard time getting dogz to pose at all, the closest they do is that thing I showed where they stay in place and stare at me. Otherwise, they just run around or do tricks. Sometimes they do something that might be it but it's NEVER when I place them at the proper angle or anything close. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's a personality thing or what. Just to give you an idea, I was actually excited when I took that picture because I thought I finally had a dog who posed. xD

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! >_> You just take pictures, lots and lots and eventually they'll pose. Even if they're not aligned, make sure you pet them during/after. I definitely think the petting reinforces it so they'll be more likely to pose again and again. Just takes time and practice.

Ha, no problem! I'm glad I found out, at least I'm not rewarding the wrong thing. I've definitely been petting them when they *seem* to be posing, but they just have a constant tendency to start running, jumping, or doing tricks instead. I'll keep trying, though! Thank you

lobb; I have a page of reference poses on my site which could help you train your eye. ^^ decemberpetz.atwebpages.com/show.htmlI also recommend paying attention to the shows here on the forum - observe all the entrants, see which ones place higher/lower, et cetera. Of course, enter some shows yourself, and just see what happens! It never hurts to try. <3 Dogs are definitely quite difficult to pose at times, but as you get the hang of things, it'll become more and more straightforward. I think we all get frustrated with the jumpy/playful ones. Such a pain to keep realigning them! xD

I've been trying to understand poses and look at pictures at them, so hopefully recognising them will get easier ALL my dogs seem to be jumpy/playful ones hahaha. I'm hoping that in some cases it's because they haven't reached the age of 100 yet and that it'll get easier when they do!

I hope double posting is ok since this isn't just a small edit and it's been days, sorry if it's not! I didn't want to start a new thread.
Could someone please give me feedback on my cat poses? I feel like they can be improved. Thank you!

Another request for help! I really want to enter one of my dogz in puppy shows but I'm not sure about his pose:
I'm pretty sure he's posing, since this is what he does when he puffs up his chest and stands in a "pose" type manner, which is different from when he's just spooked or just staring at the camera. I could be wrong, though. Is he posing?
Also, I can't get his back legs to align. Maybe it's just the way they are? How do I even do that?
