I feel there are quite a few shiny hunters nowadays but definitely not full on shiny hunters, I’ve been shiny hunting for about 6-7 years now. I’ll probably upload my shinies in this thread but be warned I have a LOT of them, over 140 at least. Probably won’t upload all of them though ahaha. That being said I want this to be a separate thread from the “Pokémon Discussion” since I don’t want to bombard that thread with a bunch shinies. Anyone that wants to discuss shinies and shiny hunting can do it here if they’d like to, I’d love chat with some other shiny hunters. This is my shiny starter Turtig, who I got pretty quickly honestly. I named him Nelson after my turtle who passed away years ago. Here is my Torchick, took a very long time to get but I'm happy with him.(Nelson and Chickpea are my most recent shinies) Here's Ava I've had her for quite a few years, she's so cute and theres Pixel in the background who is my 3rd shiny I ever got. Here's Valentine who is my 2nd ever shiny I got, near my first shiny (Shiny the Xatu) can't see her very well though. The character near Valentine is my boyfriends character.

Oooh! I'd absolutely love to see all the shinies you've collected over the years! ^^
I wouldn't call myself a shiny hunter... but I'm definitely a shiny admirer! I'd always get SO excited when I would randomly come across one in the games *o*

I've never been able to do shiny hunting in most games, because the way the odds are increased are so random, difficult and absurd that I just...didn't know how to ensure I even did all the steps right. But Ultra Sun/Moon actually made it way easier by providing a Shiny Charm if you complete your Pokedex! Nostalgic was an AMAZING help with helping loan me the Pokemon I simply couldn't find anywhere, and she's even the one who told me about the shiny charm in the first place! xD NOW I'm finally becoming a shiny hunter, though only in my Ultra Sun game...but honestly, I've never been able to do it before, so even if I'm currently limited to that game, I'm thrilled to be able to do it!! I've gotten a couple shinies so far, but then my 'Pokemon mood' fizzled out. I've been feeling the urge to go shiny hunt some more though, so I may be back at it soonish. I don't have a ton, and I'm currently only going for the shinies I really want (like shiny Dragonair...Dragonair is my favorite of the line, and the shiny form IS PINK!! It's been a dream shiny of mine!) but yeah. xDD

love shiny hunting, i've tried just about every method of it and succeeded at most of them, so i have lots i tend to breed for them the most since it's easier to make sure the IVs and Nature are how you want that way, but that's kind of been made a non-issue by things introduced in more recent generations, haha
while i'm here and have been handed the opportunity to talk about this: did you know that due to the way DVs are handled in breeding in generation II, and shininess being determined by DVs in that generation, it's the easiest to breed shinies in provided you have the resources? breeding with one parent being shiny (this includes the red gyarados you always have a chance to get during the story!) results in an increase to up to around 1/64 odds for hatching a shiny. you can't breed two shinies together, though, since the game checks the DVs to prevent ones with too similar DVs from breeding due to the likelihood they're related (this only works in the original gen ii games, though, since HG/SS run off gen iv mechanics)

I LOVE shiny hunting in Ultra Moon!! Chaining is even kind of relaxing to me if I'm in the mood for a long chain as they usually are, but sometimes they can be surprisingly short. I have a shiny Eevee from chaining and a few Pichu and Pikachu. It was funny because I really wanted a male shiny Pikachu, but kept getting females xD Shiny Pichu is rarer for me when it comes to breeding them, but I've bred two now! I also hatched a shiny Zigzagoon and Milotic and most recently a shiny Minccino who is absolutely ADORABLE and I love playing with her in Refresh along with her shiny "sister" that I caught in a chain. I just love playing with and raising them xD (kind of like Petz!)

Its odd how they thought about who the Pokemon were probably related cause now they don't seem to care, I guess if they were to care it'd annoy people who bred for battle Pokemon and shiny Pokemon. I mean not every shiny hunter goes for perfect EVs and IVs but I do it just for the chance of it. I have a perfect Furfro ahahaha not the best for battle but I love him. Oooh! I'd absolutely love to see all the shinies you've collected over the years! ^^ I wouldn't call myself a shiny hunter... but I'm definitely a shiny admirer! I'd always get SO excited when I would randomly come across one in the games *o* I haven't came across a random encounter in years I have a few random encounter shinies and one of them being very notable since I almost failed her, I got a shiny slowpoke near the beginning of Pokemon Sun and Moon or Ultra Sun and Moon and I didn't have very many Pokeballs but I did catch her and I named her Luck. My first shiny was a random encounter in Alpha Sapphire that being a Xatu on 2016, I named her Shiny what I was gonna rename her but forgot to but I'm pretty chill with the name so its all good, also I never thought I'd become a shiny hunter nor ever get a shiny till I got my girl Shiny. I LOVE shiny hunting in Ultra Moon!! Chaining is even kind of relaxing to me if I'm in the mood for a long chain as they usually are, but sometimes they can be surprisingly short. I just love playing with and raising them xD (kind of like Petz!) Oh I have the opposite problem, since I've always had female Pikachus I'm so much more attached to them though I do have my little shiny boy さき(Daiki) who I love, I haven't manged to get a girl shiny I've had one but I've evolved her into an alolan raichu what I was honestly thinking of keeping her as a Pikachu since I released shiny Pikachu is really not that bad and I honestly really like it. But I still enjoy my methods besides egg hunting, I'm so sick of that one.

Oooh! I am a shiny hunter. Like you, AussieBahstard , I've been doing it for a long time -- since 2010. This is going to sound bananas, but I got into shinies because of the mystery and challenge of chaining via pokéradar in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Back in 2010 there was scant information on shiny chaining; all we knew is that your friend character in the game had cryptic dialog about grass occasionally "sparkling" for different-colored pokémon, that some players were claiming they'd seen these so-called "shiny patches," and that one or two guides existed with supposed techniques for success at triggering them. There were no images of actual shiny patches on the internet in those days. I don't even think the percentage increases per chain were known yet, and the debate over whether your odds maxed out at 40 or increased indefinitely was still raging. The thing was, two years prior in 2008 I had encountered a shiny patch at a very low chain. It was a total fluke; I had just been messing around with the pokéradar for a few minutes to see how it worked. The animation went by so fast that it was hard for me to know what I 'd seen, but I somehow managed to walk over to it without setting off a random encounter. There was a shiny Glameow inside! So when I eventually found out there were guides online for possibly replicating this phenomenon, and that shiny chances might not be completely random with the pokéradar -- that they might even be improvable -- I put all these pieces together and had to try it for myself to see if it worked. There was also an element of doubting what I'd seen in 2008. I needed to see that animation again to be really sure. I had thought I would only chain one shiny to prove to myself that the technique was real, but then I fell in love with the process. I enjoy the chaining method from Gen IV so much. It's meditative to me. I still do it to this day. In fact, right now I have an active chain of Mr. Mime. I keep a living dex of shinies in my SoulSilver game, and every so often I restart HeartGold to do all-shiny runs of species I want to evolve. I keep all the rest in My Pokémon Ranch on the Wii so I can watch them run around happily. I actually just cracked 1000 individual self-caught shinies in my collection this year, but I generally catch between three and six of each species when I chain -- so for perspective, that 1000 is spread over only 177 individual species. I would catch extras for evolutionary purposes, but also because I liked to trade with folks back in the day who were desperate for a particular shiny. I was part of a LiveJournal group where folks would make heartfelt posts about how they'd wanted a shiny Vaporeon for years, or about that shiny Beldum that got away, or how they just could not get a handle on the chaining process at all but wanted to know if someone had a shiny eastern Shellos they could part with. I really loved trading to those people. I'm sad that the DS severs are down now, because I never trade my shinies up out of Gen IV, and therefore can't trade online anymore.
I've done some soft-resetting too, but I do not enjoy that process at all, except for starters in HG/SS when you can see all three at once before resetting. With the exception of those, I've only SR'd for pokémon I'm particularly attached to (e.g. Anorith, Ho-oh). My goal for many years had been to chain one shiny in every chainable evolutionary line in the Gen IV games. I succeeded in 2018. Now my goal is to catch at least one of every chainable shiny species in D/P/Pt via shiny patch. Right now, after Mr. Mime, I will be done with all Gen I chainables. I created a database for myself to keep track of all this. My friends say I have a problem, haha.

I know this thread has been quiet for a few months but I'm currently trying to Masuda a shiny Riolu (Lucario = dream shiny) in Sword. I would love to be able to come back here and share when I finally hatch one
