I hope this is the right place for this, if it isn't I'm really sorry, but I need help:
I was watching a storytime video of a youtuber maybe a week ago, she talked about Petz 5 so I was like "OH MY GOSH THAT LOOKS AMAZING!" So I do some searching and find a website where you can get old games for free, and Petz 5 was on there so I was like "HECK YEAH!!" The game works amazingly the only thing I have to do is lower my resolution to get the petz to not look like blobs which isn't a problem,BUT today and yesterday I found out you can get other pets from people who also play the game! Now I thought there's no way people still play this game from 2002, welp I've been proven wrong and now I need help. In all the adoptable places where they tell you how to put the Petz from other people in the game for 5 they talk about putting the petz you want in the adoption center folder. The problem is the game I downloaded from the site it doesn't have the adoption center folder! So I don't know what to do...I really want to get other petz because they look so cool! I don't know where I could buy the game either, and I kinda don't want to, but if that's what you guys tell me would be best I guess I'll have to. The site was called oldgamesdownload.com if anyone can help me with this that'd be great! Again, sorry if this isn't the right place for this!

Hi, welcome!! So you open Petz 5 from an .exe file, but there should also be, in the same place, folders called "Adopted Petz" "Resource" "PetzPix" etc. Maybe you can run a search for them in case your computer installed them somewhere weird. Or adopt a pet and name it, and then run a search for the pet's name in your file explorer and it should show up in the adopted petz folder so you'll know where it is!

Yes as Rho says, I think the “Adopted Petz” folder only appears after you’ve adopted a pet from the Adoption Center.
For some reason when I installed Dogz 5, my computer put some files in this weird mirrored program files place that I couldn’t access unless I searched?! It was bizarre and my knowledge of computers isn’t great, so I’m not quite sure how to explain it properly. But after searching for my adopted pet, I found my “Adopted Petz” folder there, along with some others, and I just moved them back to where they were supposed to be. Alternatively, if this is what your computer has done too, you can create a shortcut to the adopted petz folder and put it somewhere easy to reach.
But meanwhile, welcome to the community! It’ll be great to see you around, and I’m sure you’ll be adopting or trading petz with other users in no time!! ^^

Welcome rockyrules10 ! We were still here, on the internet, waiting for you. :D I can confirm, at least with my recent install of Petz 4 on a new computer, that Rho is right that the "Adopted Petz" folder doesn't show until you've taken someone home from the Adoption Center. I think I just created a new folder myself and named it "Adopted Petz" this time around to skip that step, though, so that should work too if you absolutely want start off with a pet someone has sent you instead. With lowering your resolution, are you aware of the PetzA add-on? It's a fan-made program that gives you extra functionality in Petz, including adjustments to window size and game speed beyond what the base game allowed. It's largely considered a must for playing on modern computers. It might solve your resolution issue.

Thank you all for your replies and welcomes! I wasn't expecting all of this lol @rho I looked in the files and realized there's only 1 file that has .exe and that's a iconexe, the site tells you to click a setup.exe file but there isn't one so I guess I clicked on all the ones that have the words setup in them(there's 7 different files that have that). I have over 20 pets at the moment and searched all of their names, nothing. I also tried for folder the search but nothing came up gingeradeI'm going to try to adopt another pet and maybe like copy them?? I don't know, thank you for the suggestion! I tried searching but no luck ;-; KeyGlyphI might try that! Would I put the folder within my game files?? Would that affect my current pets too? I wasn't aware of that add-on! I'll have to check it out, thank you!

Welcome to RKC! Maybe you could post a screenshot of what the folder contents look like? That might help figure it out if nothing else works! Also, is it saved in your C drive or like in your documents folder? It often has issues if it saves to C:, so many people keep it in their documents folder. I use my desktop, personally, but it doesn't really matter.
I hope this can be fixed soon so you can jump right into the community, shows and trading included!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!!
So I was able to find the folders where it has the different breedz of catz and dogz!! All i had to do was search my computer with the words "Catz" and "Dogz, I tried to put the dogz I downloaded from other sites into it but it didn't work. It was a folder though so maybe I should just take the part where it says ".dog" instead of the whole thing. Thank you guys for all your suggestions! I think I'm almost there!

Nice! So if you found Catz and Dogz, those folders should be in the Resource folder. The .dog files are breed files, not individual petz. If you adopt a pet in Petz, it should generate the "Adopted Petz" folder in the same location as "Resource". So if you adopt a bulldog named Jowls, you should be able to find "Jowls.pet" in "Adopted Petz".

Oo screenshots would be a good idea!
Were the breedfiles (“.dog”) within a “Dogz” and then a “Resource” folder? This folder is likely to be in the same place as your “Adopted Petz” folder, which is where your individual pets should go or be!
Edit: Basically what Rho has said!! X’D

Progress! I'm so glad to hear! What the others have said covers pretty much all the bases, but I wanted to throw in a little more about the difference between .pet and .dog/.cat. The .pets, as said, are your individual petz and will go in the Adopted folder. This goes for petz you adopt from people. The .dog/.cat files are breeds, and go in the appropriate resource folder. These are for if you download extra breedz that you can then adopt individuals from in the adoption center. Like maybe your favorite breed is a Turkish Angora, so you get a fan-made breed and adopt a bunch of Turkish Angoras now.
Hopefully that makes sense and will help down the line!
