I'm hexing a unibreed German Shepard to look like the German Shepard that we had when I was little. I have her a almost done. I lack a patch of black on the top of her tail, and only on the top. It doesn't wrap around. If I'm understanding correctly this is something that I'll need to do in LNZ?
With Paint balls?
I've only hex 'painted' in petz workshop at this point, so I'm mostly clueless. Any tips and advice are welcome. :-)

I would recommend adding the paintballs in PWS (so you can see what you're doing!), and then once you've got the placement right, further editing it in LNZ. You'll need to anchor it, and you'll probably want to texture it. It's also quicker to finetune stuff like the size of the paintball through LNZ. Here is a tutorial about anchoring and texturing paintballs: seeingstars.site/hexing.html

Thanks Arie Question about part of the tutorial. ... ? Dummy file? I get that PWS deletes the textures if you open the file up again in it, but as long as you've placed all your spots and you know you're done. Do you have to fiddle with the second file? www.sherlocksoftware.org/page.php?id=47 < Tells you how to make the paint balls from scratch, and manipulate them. Which the seeingstars site skips. Not that it's not a good tutorial as far as it goes, I just needed both, and thought someone else might too. Any tips on moving paintballs around? It feels extremely awkward, and I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to angle the pup to get the spot just right in PWS. What am I missing? I kept trying to grab the spot and move it like I would in GIMP.

Whoops, yeah, the one I linked is for horses specifically, which require a dummy file to edit in PWS. It was just the first tutorial I found and it looked good at a glance. Sorry for the confusion! If you have the paintballs roughly where you want them, you can fairly easily move them in LNZ by editing their x, y, and z values. It takes a little while to get the hang of, but once you do, it's much quicker than redoing them in PWS haha. This chart by Kathy @ Tabbloza helps a lot with understanding how to change the x, y and z to move the paintballs in any one direction:

Thanks so much for pointing me to that image Arie! It's really easy to understand. I'm going to save it. :-) I'm Happy with how she turned out. The picture I have of her is more yellowish... But the color doesn't exist for petz. And my brother described her as being "such a pale blond that she was almost white". My mom thinks it's close enough, so here we go. :-) I may come back to her later and shrink her adult size a bit (once I learn how), as Boots was the runt of her littler. One vet told my dad that she was the smallest Purebred German Shepard he'd ever seen (vet knew the parents). She wasn't a dwarf, just small.

Ah, you probably need an ivory furfile then I remember you are on PKC, so if you go here, take a look at the ivory furfiles and perhaps one will work for you It would go in the resource\dogz folder and have opacity at 0. [texture list] \resource\dogz\ivory.bmp 0 ;number displays this one: ;number is so you know which file to swap. You'll want all the body except ankles, wrists, fingers/toes and hands/feet. The first texture is ;0 and goes from there

I may come back to her later and shrink her adult size a bit (once I learn how) It's easy enough! Just open the breedfile in LNZ and look for a section called [Default Scales]. There should be two numbers here. To make a pet generally a little smaller or bigger, you'll want to increase/decrease both numbers by the same amount (you can do fun things by changing them separately, but that's an experiment for another day). In this case, lowering both numbers by, say, 10 or 15 will probably do the trick. (:

Adding a texture does look easy, Thank you a bunch for the information!... Looking for an external textures is a good idea. I'll think about it for a future hex. Because I found another picture of Boots in full sunlight, while looking for a photo of the next dog I wanted to hex. She's was the color I remember her. The value is similar, but color is slightly more yellow?
That's what I get for asking my brother... He tends to remember things differently than I do. *shrugs* I know better than to ask him next time. Mom said she liked this one. So it stays as Boots, for this project anyway. Maybe I'll make a V2 later... Otherwise I'll keep tinkering with this one and never start another. Also, I'm not on PKC, so maybe you're thinking of someone else? I was talking to someone about a PKC breed file recently though.
