I'm working on what I intend to be my first serious breeding project, but I've run into a problem. It doesn't seem possible to pass down a Maine Coon's white muzzle to an Alley-faced offspring. I'm using Carolyn's Flealess Alleys with Attitude, if that's relevant.

What does the offspring look like? Would it be possible they are inheriting the maine coon points, but the grey alley cat muzzle overlaps the white coon muzzle?

Looks like the muzzle is grouped with the body, and the head is seperate from both of them. Not sure what exactly is causing it, but my best guess is that the alley OW groups the body parts this way, which is why it happens with alley faced cats regardless of coat type. It's certainly fascinating!
This is a pretty commonly used OW, right? There's probably someone out there who has used it before and has already figured out the cause haha.

Oh that's not because of an overwrite! (the original topic I mean, not why that ow alley cat shows paint like that) Breeds show different coat types differently because of how their own base breed (what the head is) groups balls.
Most breeds show Maine Coon coat as only two colors - the main body color and the boots color, and only a few (BWS/Maine Coon, maybe Oshy?) show all 3 color areas.
