Recently, KeyGlyph posted a full family tree of one of their dogz families, and it inspired me to try it out myself. Up until I reinstalled Petz 3 and 4 in 2013 (or was it 2014? I don't remember lol), almost every mixed-breed Petz I owned was either a descendant of one of my three "main" couples, or the mate of one of their descendants. I kept track of their mates and children in their profiles, too. So I thought I'd try it with my two technically oldest Petz, Sophisto and Pouncer. They "only" have nine children, and only three of them went past three generations. (this pic is huge so you'll need to drag it into a new tab to see it full-size!) My other Catz couple, Princess and Aaron, are represented here too--Lightning is a granddaughter of theirs, and Dee Dee a great-granddaughter!
Funnily enough, this wasn't nearly as unmanageable as I thought it would be lol.
Something interesting that jumped out to me while I was making this and taking note of their birthdates... I've mentioned before that the Catz were originally my brother's. I know for a fact that he bred (and named) John, Lightning, Duke, and Lynn... but I think I might have been the one to breed Lisa (and beyond), which means that I had kind of taken over the Catz side of Petz as early as April 1999. I knew my brother had pretty much stopped playing by the time we got P5, but looking at this I think he might have even stopped before P4. Speaking of Lisa, her father was actually a first gen Persian that is long gone. I don't know what happened to his file, but it probably went missing not long after Lisa was born. I don't even remember what color he was. ^^; But, with Lynn having five breeds in her, he was the start of me trying to breed a cat with all ten breeds in it... by slowly adding one breed at a time lol. As you can see, the end result only looks like a cross between a Russian blue and Maine coon... and maybe chinchilla Persian, too? I got smarter when P5 came along--Davy (and his siblings) also have five breeds in their family tree, so I bred the other ten breeds together to make Zoe, and so their all-fifteen-breed children are only six generations, Thanks for the inspiration, keyglyph, this was fun! Although I don't think I'll do it for my other two Petz couples, since I think they'd be twice this size lol. (Although I have already done part of the work on the Princess/Aaron family tree with the considerable overlap here...)

This is SO. AWESOME. I LOVE looking at this! Isn't it amazing what details come to light when you lay out all the dates? Your realizing you became the primary Petz player earlier than you'd original thought is such an interesting revelation, I think. The time jumps in families are really intriguing too, and something that popped up in my own chart. For example, in Critic/Lynn line is a big cluster of 1999s and 2001s, and then suddenly... 2008! It looks like you were pretty consistently playing at last every other year or so up until 2013, though, if these are all your adoption/birth dates. Relatedly, welcome to the family, Floyd! I only just bought Catz 4 a week or so ago, so I'm no expert on the cat breeds, or which traits often pass, and so on. But I've been really fascinated following what I think is the "Siamese shape" through your tree. I also think Quadraped is fascinating, as are the Siamese markings on Vodka and Whiskey that came out gray instead of black, and that gorgeous sandy coat out of nowhere on Critic! It's also neat to see the tiger stripes pop up again in Cordelia after a dormant generation. I also enjoy that you too drew on Lord of the Rings and Sailor Moon for names. XD
Again, this was really cool to look at. I'm grateful I got to experience a piece of your Catz genealogy!

Wow! This is fascinating watching the colors and body shapes pass down. I sorta knew it worked, but seeing it mapped out like this proves it. Thanks for putting all the work into it, I hope you had twice as much enjoyment as I did looking at it. I've been thinking about doing at least a list for my primary family lines. This is making me want to do a photographic one of them more! This is so neat! I'm already sorting though for a crew page. So this would be fairly easy I think. KeyGlyph and commander thanks for the push to try it ;-)

Oh man, if I did one of those for my kuvasz it would take forever and a year. Maybe if I do ONE... ^^; Unfortunately I don't have photos for all of them since some dogz were adopted from other players so I don't have parent photos ;_;

Very cool to see another genealogy tree around here! Petz genetics is fascinating, and it's neat seeing the traits pass down your beloved sentimental Petz family definitely makes me want to make something like this.

This is very cool indeed! I really enjoyed looking at all these family trees. I am now tempted to try to make one for some of my related petz too. I think I have one family of catz that I could put together some generations. Although I'm supposed to be doing some other petz related things, according to my To Do list, but I really wanna try to do this right now. XD

There's no requirement to do the whole history. Along those lines, I've also been doing smaller "family photos," which just show a pair and their babies, plus tiny thumbnails of any known parents/grandparents of the direct descendants. Since adoptive petzz' parents aren't known, they're simply not provided. I don't think either of our family trees accounted for the parents of adopted petz; we're just tracking the ones that were born to us or produced babies on our watch. Otherwise the effort would be completely impossible, I think!

Okay, I couldn't resist the temptation. I made some family trees myself! I made two, of two separate lines, and they are very small. Because even though I have lots and lots of petz, most of them are not related, or just have very short family histories with me, only one or two generations.
First, we have the family history of Pixel, my very first cat, who came all the way from Catz 1. I don't have her exact birthday, the date listed is just the date that she was imported into Petz 3. The same goes for Syn, who also came from Catz 1.
If things are hard to read, just open it in a new tab to view it at full size. Hopefully it makes sense. Ya see, Pixel and Fencewalker are mates, and had three children together, they are not exclusive. Pixel has had a litter of kittens with Kirby, one of which I have. And Fencewalker had a son, Mem'now, with someone named Kiki, who I don't even remember!
And then another family of Calico mixies:
Another mysterious cat in this family too. Which I find even weirder since it was only in 2006, I thought I knew all petz I had in my game at that time and didn't loose any. I recognize the name Courtney, she was a friend of mine at the time, but I don't remember getting that cat from her.

Or you could put a note: Name is X Generations, no info available. A lot of them are actually first gens, but it would be tail style, coat type, pigment and such that I don't have access to. I wish I did! It would make predicting pups a little easier, even if I can control all but the tail types XD I could control that too if I really wanted, lmao.

Meer , that's so cool! I love that you still have some Petz from all the way back to Petz 1 Thanks! I'm really happy I was able to keep Pixel and Syn for all these years. It's amazing luck their files haven't been lost in a computer crash! I lost the dog I had from Dogz 1 and one other cat, but I later "reincarnated" those petz when I learned how to hex, and I still have those. I lost some of my petz during the Petz 3 era, but luckily a lot of my favorites were saved because I had left copies on a friend's computer who gave them back to me, Pixel and Syn included, so they've been very lucky! Now of course I back up all my Petz regularly because I would be so heartbroken to loose any of them!
But anyway, sorry for going off on a ramble, but yeah I feel very lucky and glad that I have petz that I've had for so long!

I'm so excited about these trees, but I don't see them! Did something change with the embed? Or is it my own problem?
All the way back to Petz 1. Amazing.

I'm so excited about these trees, but I don't see them! Did something change with the embed? Or is it my own problem? All the way back to Petz 1. Amazing. I forgot to renew my website's security certificate until it had expired the other day, so all my images became broken. It's fixed now so the images should be showing up, try refreshing them? Can you see them now? Hopefully that fixes the problem.
If you still can't see them, I'm not sure what the problem could be. Hmm...
But anyway, thanks! I'm really proud of my Petz 1 kitties. ^_^
