I love it when a good Petz story comes together... It's not often that it happens to me since I don't adopt very much any more (by design), but now that it has, I absolutely had to share in its own thread!
delighy 's 'footie pyjamas' Catz are absolutely one of my favourite things. In my big Catz MPA thread, I have a cat up for adoption who kind of resembles the look (Snuggles), and I never thought to call it a footie pyjamas look... but it suits so well, and now it's absolutely canon. Thank you deli.
Seeing that there was one up for auction on PUGS and one up on TFM, I had to try and nab them both in order to have a pair of slumber party kitties... It didn't quite go according to plan right away?
I managed to nab Birthday Cake (originally Red Velvet) from TFM with no resistance and base value... How?
I love him, he really spoke to me when i saw him - those white whiskers to go with the white points, and that lovely eye colour! I always match Catz' eyes to an accessory now if I can, so he gets a lovely blue collar. His name was already a cake reference, to his colour, clearly, but I changed it to Birthday Cake because I've had a saga of ragging on Ben and Jerry's Birthday Cake flavour with my friend over the past few days - and the red colour on this guy reminds me of the strawberry hints of that ice cream. It all just worked out super well.
That auction ended a few days before the other cat I had my eye on, on PUGS, originally called Art School.
It was my plan all along to grab this girl no matter the cost and pair her up with Birthday Cake with the name Ice Cream - she's even cream coloured so it fits, and look at those vanilla swirls...! For a bred pet I sure drove the price up high; I stuck in a 50 point bid increase in the hopes it'd send the message that this girl was h o t - s t u f f.
But auctions on PUGS don't work the way that TFM auctions do with max and auto bidding, so of course I was at the mercy of timezones and anyone who also felt the same way about her...
Enter our girl CatCreature . Not sure how much she ended up bidding for her in the end, but my backup plan was forced into motion. If we couldn't pair the two in the same household, I'd grab a hold of whoever nabbed this girl and have one hell of a playdate. Deli was kind enough to divulge the info and contact CatCreature for me, and then we made an agreement to make the slumber party come true, with 'Ice Cream' now named Guinevere... Until CatCreature had a change of heart and just
gives her to me?!?!?!
With the blessings of deli and the understanding that she wasn't purchased specifically for me, it all worked out, and now I have my very own Ice Cream... Poor girl has been through a bunch of name changes and travelling, but she made it home and I couldn't be happier. So now the question remains... will Birthday Cake and Ice Cream have one hell of a party?!
P.S. Persian was a cat personality I was missing in my crew. I'm so stoked to have two!
