Wow man it's been a long time! It's me, Cas/Dragon! I haven't been on here in about four years, but I'm hoping there's still people I recognize here... then again, I'll be glad to meet new people! Uh... I forget what people put in these things! I'm a writer (novels and poetry, mainly, but I've been known to write many a fanfic) and a cat lover. I've been playing Petz for eleven years now (on and off), and joined the Petz community in 2010... when I was like, ten. Bad decision, since a) I was breaking the rules and b) I didn't know how to behave like a real living human being at that point. Don't worry, I had a redemption arc. As you can see in my signature, I do have a shiny new petz site called Heaven-Sent and a Tumblr. As far as fandoms go, I'm a huge fan of Doctor Who (mainly the first four seasons) and Torchwood, along with Mean Girls, Heathers, and the McElroy brothers. Talk to me about any of those and I'll love you forever! I think that's about it, but if you have any questions, let me know! It's gonna be good to be back β€οΈ

Welcome back Cas! I remember you! It's nice to see you back. The only thing I can contribute to your fandoms is that there are 3 episodes of Dr. Who I need to watch: The Doctor's Wife, Nightmare in Silver, and the Puffin eshort Nothing O'Clock. Because they were written by Neil Gaiman. I'm always surprised by how many people in the PC are writers too because while there are post for visual arts all the time there aren't many for writers.

I didn't know he wrote the Doctor's Wife, though; I guess I just missed it, lol. Oh, if there are any other writers here I'd love to meet them! I love talking about writing, it's pretty much my only hobby...

I knew he wrote comics(which is how I found him, Sandman is the creepy bomb!), novels, children's books, ect. Then I was watching an interview and he mentioned a list he had made as a kid for what he wanted to write and Doctor Who episodes were on the list(he's a huge fan I guess) and he did so of course I had to find out which ones and tell my DW fan girlfriend. I'm a writer! I believe Sasha is too but I could be wrong about that. I have talked about writing with Little Bit and Mercury(I don't think he's on RKC) too. I know Merc has been trying really hard to start writing, I'm always pushing prompts at him.

Also, I can certainly see him being a big Doctor Who fan. That's awesome! If they want, I'll have to talk to them sometime.

Yes! Those are him, so is American Gods, Stardust, Ocean at the end of the lane, Trigger Warning, View from the Cheap Seats, Sandman(comic), and quite a few others. Those are just the ones that I can think of off the top of my head. He recently wrote one on Norse mythology too and an Arc in the Batman comics but I can't remember which one. I always start with Stardust, American Gods, and Coraline when I'm introducing him to someone since many people know the tv/movie adaptations.
What do you write? Poetry and Novels you mentioned but like what genre?

@shade (I hope this @'s you? I haven't used this in a long time. I'll have to check out more of his stuff! I really like what I've read by him so far. Trigger Warning is an... interesting title... though I'm very wary of things that mention that, it could go in any direction, lol. I write poetry about uh, usually mental illness/things that are negatively affecting me at the time. It's a little edgy, lol, but it helps. As for novels, usually realistic fiction! I actually have a novel that I've adapted from a fanfiction I wrote; I'm in the process of editing it, and then I guess I'll have to get an agent? Hbu, do you write?

Kieran @ Fractal Technically that was me? I looked on my proboards dash board because it had my birthday and stuff so...and I somehow had 2 accounts here? I deleted that account because...I don't know why it was there? But with the @ tag thing, shade1193 will tag me. I guess publishing Trigger Warning took a lot of convincing people that he didn't want a trigger warning on the book, that it was the title of the book. It's a collection of short stories, poems, and everything else. I haven't read anything in it that warrants a trigger warning in my opinion, but since everyone is different that may not be true for everyone. My favorite is the October Tale from his Calendar of tales. I guess "click clack the rattlebag" could be triggering, it's super creepy to me. But I love horror stories so... Ooh! Realistic fiction? Like realistic fantasy or sci-fi or something else? Contemporary? What fandom was it originally based in? I do write actually. I write a bit of everything? Though now that school is out we'll see if I ever write creative-nonfiction again. I loved it, but it was so much work and I would get board halfway through. Having a word limit didn't help either when I'm sitting there going "You don't understand, I can fill 5,000 max limit on one scene alone not including any research. And you want me to have 10 sources in there too? Can I have more room?" Poetry I generally go for poems that tell a story more than anything. Sometimes I pull from my actual experiences sometimes I just go "okay let's see what happens." Short stories I very from comedy to horror. For longer works I tend to focus more on romance. As a general rule for fiction I go with fantasy. Wereanimals, vampires, fae, ect. are very common in anything I write. What I end up doing more than anything is focusing on character development because I LOVE character development. I love getting behind the scenes building of characters and end up doing that more than anything. I love tumblr prompts for this reason ((Also I realize I'm derailing your intro thread, if you'd like to move to PM I'm cool with that))

Shade Goootcha! That makes sense. I'd love to read that, I love short stories! Creepy stuff is okay by me even if it is triggering. (I have no sense of self preservation, lol) I used to read a lot more spooky stories but then I got a phone in the tenth grade and I stopped reading fgsdjfngsdg I need to read more though, being a writer and all that. Just plain realistic fiction! Like things that could be happening right now... for the most part. I have a sorta fantasy-ish book about modern day witches, but it's not like Harry Potter or anything, just tarot card readings and stuff. The one based off the fanfic was from Be More Chill, but I had a falling out with a popular person in that fandom so I left It was not fun, but hey, now I'll actually make money off of my hard work. Whoa, you write a big variety! That's really awesome! I'd love to read your stuff sometime. I've never written creative nonfiction, what's it like? I didn't even hear about it as a concept until recently when I was picking out classes for my autumn semester. Also, character development is one of my favorite things! I like writing poetry or short scenes about my characters/from their point of view just to get to know them a little more. That is, for the ones that aren't just myself with another name I write to cope with stuff, so a few of my protagonists are a lot like myself. You can certainly move to PM if you want! Sasha Pleased to meet you too, and thank you! A group PM sounds really fun!

I actually created a thread(tagged you too) so other people could join the conversation!
That's really cool! I struggle to write realistic fiction without magic. As much as I do love Harry Potter I like more realistic fantasy generally. Your story would probably be one I read just because I love Tarot. When I start building a character I usually start with something 'me', a tinny part of me then blow it up and add things to it. I started writing to cope with things too. It's a fantastic outlet in my opinion.
I enjoy the genre of Creative non-fiction. I prefer the more memoir like writing than hard core research based writing personally. I took the classes because I wanted to take every workshop my school offered. The best advice in the class was how to turn yourself into a character. We read a lot of essays and things to get a feel. Some of them had very little research and were just personal experience narratives(my favorite) others were hard core research narratives. Like one of the books we read was took place in the dust bowl. I'm really not the biggest fan of most history however having it written as an actual story really helped pull me through the books. We talked a lot about morality using In Cold Blood as a basis for what could happen if you get too involved. Because they guy that wrote that, while he paved the way for the genre, did some very questionable things to get his story. One I'm really enjoying is Living with a Wild God by Barbara Ehrenreich. I love her voice and the overall tone of the book. When we work shopped things we spent most of our time talking about things we talk about in fiction work shops: imagery, figurative language, dialogue, character, ect. We started with morality a lot earlier than planned because of one of my pieces. We had an exercise to go down town and write about it. I was asked about some dialog, and said "I pulled it straight from the audio I recorded". And the thing was know your laws, can you record someone without their knowledge? So on and so forth. I had told my friends what I was doing so I was gold but yeah.

Shade Ah yeah, I just saw it! Cool beans! Oh I adore tarot, I'm so glad other people here do! I just bought another tarot deck, it was worth the $40 lol. I'm glad writing helps you to cope with things! :> Ah okay that's understandable! I guess I get what you mean now o: I just so rarely read nonfiction that I didn't really know all the different types of it. I think i might like writing that, since most of the nonfiction I'd read before was for school, and that all got pretty boring. I did like Brain on Fire, though, and that was creative nonfiction. In fact, I think I might reread it soon. What's LWAWG about? Also, your city project sounds really cool!

Oooh! What deck did you buy? I have...12 or 13 I think? And 4 oracle decks.
LWAWG is about Ehrenreich coming to the conclusion that there is something else there on a spiritual level, and despite being an atheist she still believes there is something there. When she published the book it was a huge shock because she's a political writer with a background in science. People were super floored because of it. My Creative non-fiction teacher suggested I read it because the last essay I was writing I was writing on the idea of experiences with supernatural. The project was super fun! And it was really interesting to see what everyone else did.
You may really like creative writing non-fiction since you like poetry. A lot of people who are CWNF writers also write/started out writing poetry.

Shade Holy moly that's a lot! I only have four, I've been interested for years but I only started reading in April. It's the Persona tarot deck! That sounds really cool! I love reading about religion, my own is important to me so it's interesting to hear other peoples' takes on it. Thanks for the sorta recommendation! I sure hope so! I'm planning to take it at least sometime during college; this coming semester I'm taking short fiction and the one after that I don't believe I'm taking any writing classes, but I have some time before I graduate, lol.

The sad thing is it's not really a lot of decks. I've talked to people who have 100+ and I'd love to have that many. I just don't have the room or money for them. I looked up the deck you got and it is super pretty! I like the colors and the silhouettes.
I've been reading for...10? 11? Years? I think I was 15 when I started I might have been 14 or even 13. I only started getting into Oracle cards in the last couple years. I like both and my preference varies depending on what I'm wanting at the time. My oracle decks are The Enchanted Map Oracle Cards by Colette Baron-Reid, The Halloween Oracle by Stacey Demarco, Divine Circus by Alana Fairchild(my favorite of the 4), and Goddesses and Sirens by Stacy Demarco/Jimmy Manton. I have 3 RW decks(One mini, one from my aunt, and then my first deck). All but one of my decks follow that system, it's the one I learned on so it's the one I know best(plus it's the easiest to get information on). My one deck that is not RW is a mini Tarot of Marseille deck, which is very very very close to the RW system so not that different for me. Just a bit less visual. I have 1 other mini deck Destiny Tarot by I'm not really sure...it's a Chinese deck so while I think it is GORGEOUS I can't read what's written on the cards and some of them the imagery I can't tell which card they were going for. My 2nd deck was Sensual Wicca Tarot by Nada Mesar/Elisa Poggese. I got it about a year after I started and it's probably my most used aside from the mini RW deck. My other decks are Quantum Tarot Version 2.0 by Kay Stopforth/Chris Butler, The Fountain Tarot byJonathan Saiz/Jason Gruhl/Andi Todaro, Light Visions Tarot James R. Eads, The book of Shadows Tarot As Above and The book of Shadows Tarot So Below by Barbara Moore, Mystical Manga Tarot by Rann(My least favorite of all the decks, I just don't click as well with it but love the art), and The Raven's Prophecy Tarot by Maggie Stiefvater(which is my newest and favorite). So that's 12 decks. I also have a bunch of pendulums which is how I got started with divination in general.
If you ever want to talk about or have questions about Tarot Hit me up. I know I can ramble about it for...quite some time.
