Thought I'd add this poll just for fun. Basically, do you keep the names your petz came with/what the breeder or hexer named them?
Personally, I do sometimes. If I get a pet named Jester, RebeccaHex, or TA12 I'll change it. I already have too many with the first two names (or similar variants) and I don't really want a pet with a name full of numbers and random letters. Though I normally choose a similar name. Like TA12 may become Tasha and AB10 may become Abbs.
I'll keep the name if it's one I don't have. For example I adopted two hexies named Ruby so I changed ones name, but if, generally, I get petz with names like Trevor, Rose, Poppy, etc, I'll keep them.

I like to keep the names as a sort of souvenir from the breeder/hexer, unless I have one with that name or it's something like 'RainyDane' or 'JuFr12' haha. I guess basically the same as you! I love when a hexer names their hex for me, like my dog Spruce from Alena. It fits him really well

I'm not creative so any name it has will be better than what I come up with. Ones that come with no real name keep it until I update my crew site. Those are the ones with terrible names.

That depends. If it's a meaningless name with mixed letters/numbers, or if I already have a pet named the same, I will always change it. I mostly use petz I adopt for breeding, so they can keep their names.
When I breed petz, I always give them meaningless names (seemingly meaningless -- I actually use the first 2 letters of the mother's name, followed by the first 2 letters of the father's name, then 2 numbers), because I want to keep the "good" names for the petz I decide to keep for myself and breed (aaah, I miss the good old days of shows... waiting for that SPECIAL pet to be born and showed to the world! That used to be my purpose for breeding...)

I only change a name of a pet if they are something meaningless or it's the same as another pet I have.
Usually I keep the name of a hex, unless I had a specific name in mind when I requested the hex and the hexer doesn't mind.

Pretty much the same as everyone else although, I had changed names of Petz from their placeholder names or what their breeder originally called them. For example, I named jill@blep's "Foie" into "Cynthia" with her consent.

I love changing a coded name into something similar or one of my petz is even named 0ruzo with the zero in place of an O. I tend to keep actual names as I've received them.
Most of my breeding projects are big ones so I use coded systems with those that change almost daily >_< If it's breeding requests for my crew I tend to use the same format that I chose years and years ago 1mumdadF or 6mumdadM so the number in the litter, first three of the mum's name and then dad's name then the gender. I've stopped using gender codes in my coded projects cause I switch them often now.
I like getting original names but I enjoy making up new names as well ^_^

I'll usually keep a name as long as I don't have another pet with the same name. I do like making up names when petz are letters/numbers.

I often keep the names if they suit the pet. Vetur, Snjór, Ostehøvel, Belle, Cosette were all named by the original breeders/hexers. Sometimes however I change a name if I bring the pet out and it immediately reminds me of something, that was the case with Éponine. Furthermore sometimes the original name makes me think of something! For example I adopted a cat from Alena called Hunter and the first thing that that made me think of was 'Artemis'

Most of the time I'll rename the pet and look up and find some nice creative name and give them a name with a meaning that fits them, sometimes I'll just name them something with no meaning that I made up (for example, Muka). Then again, if I made it up I could give it it's own meaning, hmm lol. Sometimes if it's a lovely name I won't rename them, I have a dog named Windsor and I wanted to rename her to Windy but I decided to keep Windsor because when I got more into England I realized that there's a place in England called Windsor and there's Windsor castle so I'll just keep it <3 lol

I love to try to keep the petz name from the breeders. I am usually awful at coming up with names myself and end up asking my non-Petz-related Discord server/friends for names. I love it when breeders come up with fun names, but I understand that its hard to ask for a name every time.

Lots of my Petz have their original names, unless they were adopted with a gibberish code name of course. However I think I've renamed a couple!

Whenever I name a new Pet, I usually keep that name unless it's too close to another, already-existing Pet.
But if I adopt a Pet from someone else, I might re-name them. Especially if their name was gibberish/code.

I like to keep their original names if they aren't gibberish or if I don't already have a pet with that name. Otherwise, I try to give the pet a name that's close to its original name.

Most of the time I keep the names. I also try to name hexed before sending them out but sometimes I'm just lazy. If the let is named(like I usually name them) with my name or letter/number combos I'll rename it. If it's like ThDo1 I'll rename it as close as I can or try to get inspiration from that so that would be like Theodor. If I already habe a pet with the same name in that breed I'll rename then too but I try to keep it close to the same. So like Night may become Knight or Nyte.
