So I'm still fairly new to the whole 3DS thing...forgive me if this is a stupid question, or posted in the wrong place. I found I enjoy taking pictures/screenshots of my games while I play, but I'd like to move them onto my computer. So far the only way I've found I'm able to do that, is sharing the pictures through Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr. I don't have any (except a very blank, forced-to-make Facebook account, which is currently deactivated because somehow somebody kept hacking it) and I don't really want any, because I never intend to use them. Plus I tried signing up with Twitter just really quick so I could just do this and be done with it, and it wants my phone number...I don't like putting that info out there. Just...is there not some way I can get the pictures to my computer through some sort of cable? Or program like Dropbox? Why does it all have to go through some social media site that I want no part of? (Okay that last one wasn't so much a question I want answered, as it was a complaint mostly xD) Basically...is there ANY other way that doesn't require me to make an account somewhere? This is really stupid.

It should have a small SD memory card in it somewhere. I have a 2DS so the location will be different but there should be a small cover that you flip up to get at the card. The card holds your save files and settings (don't mess with those) and a folder called DCIM which holds you screenshots which you should be able to copy to your PC with a card reader. :-)

There is an SD card slot on the side of the 3ds. I think it comes with an SD card already in there, and saves your pictures to it automatically! All you have to do is take out the card and put it in your computer. Edit: ninja'd! Lol. I think the save files are stored on the game card actually. I have many SD cards and I often put one at random in my 3ds, it never does anything to my games. Sometimes it will create new streetpass data, but that's it. Just makes my pictures an unorganised mess. XD

Retail carts hold their own saves but I believe it holds downloaded game data from the eshop, it also depends on the game.

That makes sense! I never use the eshop, all my games are cartridges. Thanks for letting me know.

Yup! SD card is the best way to go! I thought they were required anyway? I know on Animal Crossing I can't take more pics because I filled up my SD card haha. Also my friend and I wanted to play Pokemon ORAS and I had an SD card and she didn't (which never caused a problem I guess) but when I installed my game it worked and said making a new save on the SD card, while she couldn't play Pokemon until she inserted one! Edit: Looking at the above posts maybe data doesn't save on the SD card. But it's still nice to have for pics and stuff

....Ergh. This is a problem. xDDD So while I knew it had an SD card in it SOMEWHERE, I never found where. I grabbed my 3DS to try and find where it was located and...realized I have a patterned cover over my 3DS AS WELL AS a plastic case over it to keep it safer if I drop it, and neither were easy at all to get on it. So I grabbed my sister's 3DS and checked it out, and STILL didn't see anything. So I Googled where the heck the SD card slot was, and I get pictures of them unscrewing the back of the 3DS...which is naturally under everything I've covered my DS up with!! Suddenly making a stupid account seems easier. I may have to look into other options after all. I REALLY appreciate the quick and helpful responses though guys, thank you SO much!!

You don't need to unscrew the DS it's possible you may with the new verison like the XL or whatever though. Would you like me to upload a pic? Maybe you have the new 3DS though.... I have the one that's older and can't read Abiimos (and needs the NFC card reader for Animal Crossing Happy Home). Anyway, what DS do you have exactly? And would you like the pic? Edit: Once you get the annoying covers off, you shouldn't have to take it apart more hopefully my cover has a SD card slot hole lol.

Er, according to the box I have the... "NEW Nintendo 3DS XL" if that helps? xDD A picture would be useful, but really only if it's the same type, I guess. And there's not a lot of places the SD card can hide on this thing so I'm feeling pretty sure I won't be able to get it out.

Which 3DS do you have? Is it one of the newer Amiibo enabled ones with "New" Nintendo 3DS on the box art? I was curious and looked it up and it seems like the newer consoles use Micro SD cards not standard sized SD cards like my 2DS does. Apparently those models can be connected to your PC through your home network. www.nintendo.com.au/new-nintendo-3ds/support/microsd-management/Have a look at that article and see if it's relevant to your model. Edit: Hehe Ninja'd. Yup looks like that article is the way to go then.

Catbaloo It worked!! That was the easiest solution so far too xD Thank you so much! And thanks anyway, RebeccaMonkey! <3 Catbaloo's solution helped me get the pics off wirelessly, without any accounts or unscrewing needed, exactly what I was hoping for! So I lucked out, haha! <3
