I'm pretty much hopeless at judging my own poses, so any and all advice is welcome. I've been poring over old topics, comparing my poses to others, but I'd still love to get an outside opinion. Bluebottle - Managed to catch this one by chance. I'm especially bad at dane poses so I really don't know about this one. Casper - I think her front alignment is good, but I don't know about her back legs or her head? Tidbit - Pretty much the same as with Casper, though I think Tidbit's head could be more centered? Caprella - My main problem is figuring out how much, if any, of the left front foot should be showing. Dutch - I don't think his tail will curve any more, and I'm not sure if that will fault him. He has a cali personality. Flax - Front feet continue to baffle me. Is she turned too close to the camera? She has a coon personality. - 1 - 2 Hombre - I think the second pose is better because his tail is more curved, but I'm not sure because of his ears. Leviathan - Again, front feet. Also, are her eyelids okay? She has a cali personality. Trombone - Another lucky catch, but I'm not sure about her alignment. Also, I know a lot of people suggest keeping fatness somewhere between 50 and 75, I think? I personally keep all of my petz at 80 (idk why, just preference). Will that fault them in the ring?

Ok take this with a grain of salt because I haven't shown in a while, but from what I remember here's what I think... I think Bluebottle's alignment is off because his feet aren't in a straight line - same with Casper and Tidbit. With dogs you mainly look at feet to see if they're aligned and you should be able to draw a straight vertical line to line up their feet. Casper and Tidbit would have good head alignment but because their feet aren't completely aligned when they look at the camera their heads aren't quite in line either. Their head alignment should fix itself when you fix their feet alignment. Caprella and Dutch are turned too much toward the camera. With catz, feet don't matter as much for alignment - you want to focus on the front legs. You can see a line of pixels showing down the front side of the right leg when you don't want to see any pixels from the left leg at all. Sometimes the tops of the feet show but that's not a big deal at all. Flax, Leviathan, Trombone and Hombre's second pose are all pretty good. Don't worry about Hombre's ears at all - their not a judging criterion whatsoever for catz. The only thing I might fix in any of them is that you can see a little bit of Leviathan's left front leg showing behind the right leg so it might be an alignment issue. I've found cali legs like those can sometimes be harder to align.

Bluebottles head looks good, but he is sightly out of alignment. He is turned a little to much towards the camera (you can tell by his front legs). You want to see as little of the left legs as you can, a little more towards the left and it would be a great pose Casper is out of alignment (you can see too much of his back legs) and his head is not centered (you can tell by the nose shines). Tidbit is skinny posing, a disqualifying fault. You want his chest out like Casper. Either way, he is also out of alignment, you can see too much of his back legs. Here is a good reference for dali poses by Celia This site might also help^^ northernpaws.heart.nu/TPPG/dogz.html Can't help with the catz, sorry xP Edit: I personally keep my dogz at 65 fatness, 80 is probably a little too much, you don't want to go above 70. if its too high the dog will appear overweight and he will be faulted.

Some more help!^^
CoffieDog mentioned that Tidbit is skinny posing=). A dog usually ends up in a skinny pose after you pet it. The best way to prevent dogz from skinny posing it to not pet them when you're trying to get a show worthy pose out of them, or if you accidently did pet them, just put them in the carrier case and bring them back out again^^. That fixes the problem.
With cat poses, you have to look at both the feet (for alignment) and the tail (for the higest breathing point). You would want the tail to curve as much towards the head as possible=). Hombre and Leviathan both have excellent tails.
And because you asked about Leviathan's eyelids^^. For me, as a judge...(depending on competition, of course) I never place Calico's with uneven eyelids. Their one of the more tricky breedz to pose just right, but I think that if someone really wanted to show their Calico's that is one of the traits they just have to perfect, because it really is such a breed specific trait. None of the other breedz have wonky eyelids.
I hope that helped a bit!^^ showing is really fun, once you get the hang of it, so don't give up!=D

^ Now on the flip side, I don't fault for wonky eyelids on a calico. It's a breed thing and I think it's just their way of showing "Hi, I'm a calico!"
Each judge is different.

^ for me, If I have a calico with uneven eyelids and a slightly better pose, and a calico with PERFECT eyelids and a slightly worse pose, I'll place the perfect eyelid one because that takes a lot of effort to get just right. I don't judge too much anyway, but here are my thoughts on the cats: Caprella- They're definitely turned too much towards the camera. the front of the left foot should never really be showing, only a little bit of the back and thats only in SOME breeds, like calicoes. Dutch- also too much towards the camera. Also, he has a cali tail which DON'T curve that far you're right..but I still think maybe it could curve a teeennsy bit more? I'm really anal about tails so that might just be me haha. Flax looks good to me. Hombre's 2nd pose is definitely the better of the lot. Don't worry about the ears. Personally, I would never fault for something like that. Levithan looks great to me. Calicoes are supposed to have that clump of pixels behind their foot. His eyelids are also pretty dang good. I'm not sure about trombone as he looks like a bit turned away from the camera to me? I haven't posed a lot of allies though, or judged them, so I'm unsure.
