Hey everyone! I'm Julie (or Jules), 26 years old, and a sort-of-noob to the PC.
If you're bored and want to read, my PC history is as follows, pretty much...
One of my friends introduced me to Dogz; she had the original Dogz game. I thought it was fun to play and did play some at her house, but didn't get the chance to play often. Looking back, I guess that's for the best--with limited things to do, I probably would've gotten bored with it.
I wanted the game myself and for my birthday or Christmas shortly after, I was given Dogz II. This was fun for me to play, and I even found new toyz to download online from the PF Magic site.
I don't remember much in the gap between II and 4, but somehow along the line I was given Dogz and Catz 4...and at this point, of course, you could breed babies.
I was hooked from that point on.
It was around 1999, so I was 11-12. From those early days, I remember everyone having a "Kennel and Cattery", myself included (of which I don't remember the name, and it didn't last long...I had decent HTML skills but hated keeping it updated with new content...which is why I doubt I'll ever have a site again). Pose shows were all the rage, and I remember Briar and Bramble, Andrea's Labs over at Cybriar; BCs Ricky and Tess; the Khorona dalis; sites such as SilverToo & Magnolia Grove, and a selective breed club I don't remember the name of...having to fast-forward the clock to breed litters, and the beginnings of hexing with Hex Workshop (of which I also never was good at, just eyes and some coat colors...can't hex to this day, unfortunately).
I mostly was a lurker and was in and out, never "famous" or anything. During the "middle years" I remember the dachies at Lotus, and sites such as Supernova and Cirrutopia.
In the later years...I guess 2004-ish, from what I can find online (but it doesn't seem like that long ago!!), I found KCA. I was in love. I'd never been a part of PKC, for whatever reason, but the KCA was simple and fun and I loved it. I had "Spinner", an Akita. Since kennel clubs were becoming more popular than pose shows, I joined the KCA. Unfortunately, it didn't last long, and as it shut down, I left Petz again (rather than stick around and go back to pose shows, when it seemed I couldn't find anyone regularly hosting any). I remember downloading so many breedfiles (Abnormality was a favorite), the AAC, and tattooed dogz being the fad. Also, of course Dogz/Catz 5 came out during this time.
So, here I am, back again. I'm not sure how active I will be, but hopefully more than just a lurker. I see that RKC and a few other sites have shows on the forums now...quick and easy! I haven't participated yet (still working on getting some poses), but I already think I will be a fan.
Um...other than that, I use Dogz 4 since it's just less "cluttered" feeling for me (that was fun, finding out how to get it to work on Vista...geez!). If you want to know anything, just ask! I look forward to hanging out around here some and participating and meeting people
