You're getting the hang of it!^^ The main thing I see wrong with this pose is the head. The head should be centered and you can tell by the nose shines. You want to nose shines (and head centered) to look something like this: Also his leg alignment is a little bit off, he's turned a little towards the camera. you want the least of the left legs showing as you can. A good tip would be to set the pictures on the "auto save" function and when your dog starts posing start taking pictures so you'll be more likely to get him at his best breathing point^^

For alignment^ When you pick your dog up to turn them, drop them when their eyes are parallel - like when the far-away-from-you eye just disappears! This isn't that bad at all though!

Whenever I get them near-perfectly aligned they're like "Forget you, ima walk in circles"

I don't show dogs, but I do know that rewarding them (petting them, I think giving them a treat works as well) when they pose makes them pose more as opposed to doing tricks. [Also, keep in mind double-posting is against the rules!]

OH, yeah! So if they skinny pose (don't puff their chest out), don't pet them. If they overpose (you'll know) pet them until they do a real pose. Then pet them every time they do it right

Don't give up!^^ We all feel the same way when trying to pose a dog that just, for the life of him, refuses to pose. It just takes patience and practice.
If he's uncorporative, stop and play with him for a while and/or try to pose another pet. Some petz are better at posing than others.
Also, as stated above, be sure to praise your pet when he show poses, even when he's not aligned so he'll be more willing to pose when aligned.

Ok, but I don't think this is my thing... I might stick to trying to amuse people.

You may just need to find that perfect breed for you. For me, I have an easier time trying to pose the CK breeds than the OB petz.

Is this one better, or worse? I think the nose is better aligned but apart from that?

The leg alignment is off, he's faced too much away from the camera. You should see as little as you can of the left legs. As you can see, his left back leg shows a lot in that pose. And also, which is worse, is that he's skinny posing (which is disqualified in most shows). Dogz sometimes pose with their chest "puffed in" instead of out which results in a pose in which they look really skinny and off. Also, Make sure the dog's "fatness" level is 50-60 on the brain sliders. Here's two good posing guides I found online that may help you mlck008.webs.com/pose.htm legendink.proboards.com/thread/158

If I get his legs aligned, his nose is uneven, when I get his nose even, his legs aren't aligned! Edit: *exhale* How about this...?

^ I'd enter that pose in the ring and see how well he does^^. He has a lovely head alignment there and I honestly don't see anything wrong with the legs either, so if it were me, I'd give this one a shot!=D
Just wanted to say that I think it's really great that you didn't give up on this little guy and look here...you've got yourself a good pose!^^ haha
Edit: his tail could perhabs be turned just a tiny bit further towards his head, but I wouldn't let that stop you from entering him...depending on competition, I think he should still place=).
