I went to the Salt Lake City ComiCon a few weeks ago an thought I'd share some pictures, also other than putting organizing them by where they were taken, The museum(the one attached to the university) or the con itself, the pictures aren't really in any order.
The museum
I highly recommend going to this museum. The building is beautiful and the collections are amazing. It is a very interactive museum as well. Plus the view was simply breath taking.
The Con
That dinosaur? Yeah it was someone's costume.
To give you an idea on how big the snakes were I'm 5'3"
Okay I have to comment on this last picture before I talk about the con. I have no idea who the second guy is, what show he's from or anything. I just wanted a picture of the teenage mutant ninja squirtal. It still makes me smile to look at though.
Anyways the con was absolutely amazing! They had to close the doors the third day, my friends and I almost didn't make it in on time. They had to give out refunds because they sold too many tickets. It broke the record for how many people came for a first con. The first day I got a net thrown over my head then a pokeball thrown at me by team rocket, had a jack Sparrow blushing, and nearly fell on my face multiple times. We were only at the con for a couple hours the first day. The second day was great. We made it through about half of the artist alley. We made some friends who we hope to see at Denver, CO, Con(we plan on not only going but having a booth as well. It's still a few months away though). My two friends, both artists(some shameless advertising right here; MCarmen and M.BrookeS), did some amazing networking. They each brought a mini-portfolio and had people that do art for things like Marvel(or was it DC...I get them mixed up) and Dungeons and Dragons request links to their artist facebook things. I got to have lots of fun talking with other Support friends, people like me who can't draw stick figures but know all the art stuff and support their friends. We got invited behind the booths the second day to hang out with some of the artists. The guy that designed some ship on star trek, I want to say it was from deep space 9 but I really don't know(MCarmen is the treky I'm just the friend) also loved their work and we spent a good 20 minutes or so talking with him. I even managed to do some minor networking for writing as well. I talked with an editor at a self publishing company, they'll have an opening in 6 months if I have anything done to submit.
Over all, it was crazy and busy and oh so mind boggling. But totally worth it. ;D
