These things are supposed to be hard to kill, easier to care for than goldfish. So what the ---- did I do wrong? The fish and frogs were together in one tank at the pet store...
Hia Krexxa I've seen you around =P
I just noticed that you mentioned you had African frogs? I used to have 2 Albino African Clawed frogs that lived with my tank with my goldfish (2 comets, 1 Blackmoor, 1 pom pom and 2 bubble eye) The fish get on well. lmao I know they're just fish so I don't know if they really "get on" but I mean they don't chase each other's tails. The fish were fine in the tank when the frogs were babies but as they started to grow my fish began to die. The water was perfect in the water so the pet shop we go to (we tested the water) couldn't understand why.
That's when I noticed the frogs started to attack my fish. My smallest bubble eye's bubble popped. So instinct kicked in and I got the 2 frogs out into a bucket. I then researched about them and it stated on various websites. Under no circumstances put these frogs in the same tank as other marine life. They are carnivores. Me and my mum couldn't understand it as the pet shop we got them from sold them to us saying they were allowed as they were in a tank with other fish. I also read the females grow to be much bigger. Me an my mum got trading standards involved as the pet shop were selling them under a false name 'Fully aquatic toads' - NO that is not their name and I wouldn't have got them to put them into the tank in the first place with my other fish. They told us they were okay and wouldn't harm the fish.
I am aware that they won't attack fish if they aren't hungry. That was the advice when we went in to complain.
That is why you're fish are dying mine also died from stress now looking back as they swam to the other side of the tank in circles and fish do this when they are frightened as their is danger. Similar to a school of fish with dolphins. I lost 6 fish in total and the pet shop had to refund us as they were selling them under a false name and information.
We didn't harm or cause stress the froggies as they weren't to know as it's in their nature. We just found them new homes as we couldn't afford a new tank at the time.
