Hi everyone, i'm new to the forum! But not to petz. First of all, Amradel ISN'T my real name! xD It would be my name if I had to change my current name though, since I like it so much! ^_^ I really don't know when I started playing petz... But I know I was pretty little so I was about 7 or 8! I'm 13 now, when I was about 10 or 11 I discovered I could download things for my petz game! I think a few times I have gone on a downloading spree and gotten heaps of stuff... xD I have played petz 5 and 4. I'm not really sure if I have played the older versions or not. I was pretty exited to find there was still an active petz forum around! I'm going to be pretty active here! I have played petz 5 the most, but I really like petz 4 having all the toys ready for you in one room... I do kinda like how you need to try and win toys in petz 5 though. Right now I have dogz and catz 5. I just recently installed it on my new windows 7 computer! It works really well on it. I do already have some petz on it, a Dali a Jack Russel and a cat. (Forgot the name of the breed.) I was going to breed my Dali and Jack Russel, but after looking around the forum a bit I decided I wanted to try breeding some pure breds! I don't know much about breeding so if anyone has a guide for me that would be awesome! I have herd you can get fur mutations when breeding pure breds? What petz breed would be good for that? Or are they all good? I was thinking about breeding labs. Should I get two colored labs or both the same color? Just yesterday night I decided I wanted to try my hand at hexing! I got pet Work shop and LNZ pro. I haven't done much yet, but I might try some more soon, or after I come back from a sleep over tonight. It seems easy enough to me! Thanks to whoever read down this far! That's all I have to say for now!

hello Amradel! Bambi Vision isn't my name IRL either (no kidding!) but I do have the plucky buck's eyes Intron/Exon is a great resource for breeding, and Powerhouse has plenty PFM purebred, non-hexed, non-inbred, 6th gen.+ downloadable adoptions in 'unibreed' with a great sample of natural mutations! And of course welcome to RKC & back to the PC

Welcome! To answer you questions: As far as breeding goes, it's not really much of an exact science, so I suggest just jumping right in and going for it. PetzA is a crucial tool for breeding, so if you don't have it yet, go over to Sherlock Software and grab it. A note about versions in case you don't already know: Petz 5 may seem a bit easier to breed in since you can get up to 4 offspring each mating, but the downside to P5 is that P5 petz are not backwards compatible with P3/4, so P5 petz will only work in P5. P3/4 petz are universal, meaning they can be put in Petz 3, 4, or 5. It may seem like it'd take longer to breed in P4, but once you get used to it, it's quite fast. The great thing about breeding or hexing in P4 is that everybody can adopt from you, so it's something to keep in mind. A lot of people in the Petz community tend to prefer P4 to P5 for various reasons, and I personally found that more people adopted from me when I made the switch from P5 to P4 years ago. To get started breeding, adopt several petz of each breed you want to breed with, then just start mixing them, or stick with a single breed at a time if you're going for purebreds. Color mutations (eyes and coat colors) happen naturally whether you're breeding mixies or purebred petz (though in my experience, mutations occur more commonly when breeding mixies), but usually takes several generations before you start seeing them. What color mutation you get is random, so if you're trying for, say, a white labrador, it might take a lot of breeding before you get a white one, or you might only be on a 3rd or 4th gen when a white one pops out. It just takes patience to get what you want. Sometimes it seems you're getting every color mutation BUT the one you want, so it can be time consuming trying for specific colors. Generally, breeding mutated colors to other mutated colors makes it more likely you'll get a new mutated color. Also, don't be afraid to inbreed, as it has no negative consequences in Petz, and it can sometimes help you reach your breeding goals easier and make traits more stable and dependable in your lines. Breeding mixies can be a lot of fun, but a little more difficult since there's multiple breeds and traits involved, and it can be harder to get aesthetically pleasing petz when mixing different breeds. You may end up with some scary, disproportionate petz while breeding mixies, but some beautiful looking mixies are a good reward for persistence, so don't be discouraged if it takes a while to get something nice looking. As for hexing, that's another thing that takes practice, and it is best to start simple. Start with something easy, such as using Petz Workshop to change coat colors. Petz Workshop is pretty easy to begin with, so play around with it for a bit, just make extra sure to back up any and all breed files you will be hexing!! *very important* Try making a paintball, or moving ballz to see how it works. Petz Workshop is good for basic things, but when you want to start serious hexing for adopting out to people, you will need to learn LNZ pro. There are some important things that can't be done with Petz Workshop, such as texturing and anchoring paintballz (just to name one), so you will want to become familiar with it if you really want to get into hexing. There are also some things that can be done in Petz Workshop, but are actually better to do in LNZ pro. It can seem pretty daunting when you first open up a breed or pet in LNZ pro, but it's actually not as complicated as it looks. It just takes getting to know what everything is and what to do with it. The Petz Editing manual, also available at Sherlock Software, is a great help when using LNZ pro, so I highly recommend getting that when you're ready to get into hexing things. The hexing help board on here is a good place to go. There's stickies with basic information every hexer needs to know, tutorials and useful links. There are lots of people willing to help on there, so if you have questions you can't find the answers to, or are having trouble, a thread on the hexing board will usually get an answer pretty quick. I hope that helps, good luck! I'm sure I'll be seeing you around here. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask, I don't bite...well, not often anyway.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone! And thank you so much for that very informative post Barguestspirit! It was very helpful! ^_^ Lol, my Maine Coon is getting spoiled since I don't have any other petz to look after right now! xD I love that kitty, I think I would regret it allot if I got rid of her. I do have petzA it is helpful, but I feel like i'm making the game to easy if I use it for breeding or if I use the brain slider... So I mostly just have it to be able to take out more that two petz. But, I might raise my petz normally then breed them with petzA. Do any of you know some good breeds I could mix breed with? I want to start with 1 male and 2 females, each different breeds! What breeds could look nice together do you guys think? Thanks again everyone for the welcomes! ^_^

Welcome to RKC I hope to see you around <3 Aww you should keep your Maine Coon I regret not being able to save my first ever AC pet It may be useful by adopting some other bred petz to start you off. But, usually people who want to breed Pedigree's use their own lines, which just means starting from scratch and usually with full bred petz people prefer non inbred, I've noticed. But other times no one really generally minds =P

Thanks ayshajade! Aww, did you have an Ally cat as your first pet? I remember once when I was little my dad got me an ally cat, and we couldn't adopt any different petz after that or the game would freeze or crash... I didn't want the ally cat but then he told me to keep it because nobody loves it. xD Well that made me feel bad for that kitty, so I think I kept it and looked after it for a while! I was only like 7 or 8 then... But when I think about that it kinda makes me feel bad for ally cats! I thought they where bad enough until I found out they are eternally sick and have fleas! Poor things... Lol... I think i'm half forgetting this is a game i'm taking about! xD I will keep my Maine Coon, I would feel bad getting rid of her... Maybe I should have a cat breeding profile and a dog breeding one! I just adopted some puppies of the new thread: Come Git You Some Puppehs! Haha, One of the pups i'm getting of there is like gen 322... xD Oh yeah, i'm going to get petz 4 soon! ^_^

Don't forget to save your petz before you put them in your p5 game because unfortunately you can't convert p5 petz back to p4, unless by LNZ pro which all you do is copy the coding but they will lose everything such as the family tree all you get is a copy of how the pet looks if you do this. P4 is personally my fave version after years of preferring p5 because there is so much more things available such as downloads. They both have their perks but yeah you should get petz 4 too as I have both of them <3

Ok, thanks for telling me to save them! I don't think I will be switching petz from 5 to 4 though.
Oh, and do you think I should get dogz 4 and catz 4?

Welcome to the board!
If you're interested in some pure bred labz I have some great mutations in my p5 lines. They aren't solely my lines but I have labz of nearly every color I think in that game. I have some white labz I could breed to get you that mutation going(it was the hardest for me to get). The only thing is they are inbred, non-full tree, and tree cut. Some people don't like these things but if you don't mind I'd be more than happy to breed some pups for you.
Mutations are a lot of fun with pure breeds. There really aren't any breeds that don't mutate though things such as dali spots will always be black(unless you have an over writing file). B+Ws for example mutate their socks but are always black for the main coat(in my experience at least)
As for your petz 4 question. I'd say you should really try to get both if you can. But if you can only get one I'd get which ever one you think you will enjoy most. If you like catz better than dogz then go with catz.
The saving files is amazing. I save all emails of petz I receive in folders in my email. I've been making slow progress in going through and getting petz I adopted when I only played in p5 into p4. It has also save my butt on many computer crashes. One thing I think everyone in the community agrees on is to back up back up back up. Nothing is worse than having your game crash and loosing your favorite pet.
Also while I'm not the best breeder I love it, may be slightly addicted to it, and would be more than happy to answer any questions(if I know the answer) or just discuss projects with you ^^

Thanks guys! Shade thanks so much for the offer for the Dali pups! But I have changed my mind already, right now I have a boy mutt and a female Dali to breed on petz 5. Thanks anyway though, that was very kind of you! ^-^ I ordered catz 4 of ebay a few days ago, it should get here any day now! I'm mainly going to play with dogz on petz 5, so I think it was good to get catz 4. I love how friendly every one on the forum is! Thanks again everyone!
