I decided I'd step out of my kitty comfort zone and try posing some dogz to show on the PKC.. and after trying to pose numerous different breeds and failing, I was SO ready to just give up and only show catz forever. xD but I prevailed and tried my luck with a Greyhound, which was waaay easier to pose than the breeds I tried before. I still think posing dogz is incredibly frustrating, but I am hoping it will become easier with practice. So anyway, I need some advice/opinions on the following poses; they are the best I've been able to get, and I'm just wondering if I should try to pose her more or if you think any of these would place. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. I kind of think 2 is the best, but I'm not really sure. or maybe 1? idk, help please? hah :x

1, 2 and 5 are the only 'show quality' ones out of this bunch. Now, let's look at them in detail. 1 has good alignment and a nice head and the liplines are nice and smooth. 2 has the same alignment, a higher head but the liplines/bottom of the nose stick out and therefore look unflattering. 5 has nice alignment, a more level head but the nose looks thick and therefore more unflattering (although it has a more flattering transition from the forehead to the muzzle). I'd go with 1 as a debut pose based on that :3 You can keep 2 as a pose for next month if your dog doesn't champ in a month since it's also good but the nose/lipline area is slightly less flattering. Placing in the PKC has little to do with pose, actually. Standard is first and foremost and presentation of the dog is second. Judges usually do a look over and flag any faulted/DQ'd dogs based on standard, picture quality, or age of the picture (since you take new ones every month or so). Then presentation comes next and it varies depending on the judge. Some prefer higher heads, some prefer lower, certain markings may catch a judge's eye while others may detract from them. You really have no way of knowing but pose can influence your dog placing as long as it meets the standard, particularly in a high competition breed I hope that helps!

Thank you, Artemis! That was extremely helpful.
I actually already went ahead and entered pose 2 in a few shows yesterday, so I guess I'll just see how those place. One of them is currently in the process of being judged, and at the moment it looks like it will probably place in G4 and BOB.. and I do see what you mean about the liplines making it look unflattering. I agree that pose 1 does appear to be the best out of all of them -- so I might try that one for next month.
And thanks for filling me in about PKC, I actually wasn't really aware of that!
