So I found an old story file of mine going through some random back up cds I have. I really want to open the file...I have no idea what to use to open the dang thing though it's a *.nws file. I've tried googleing it but...I'm getting zip that is useful. I'd love if someone could point me to a program to open it with or convert it to a word/open office document or something. I can send the file to anyone who'd like to try and fight with the file as well. I've been fighting with it for about a week now.
Anyways thanks for anyone who helps.

I went to both those links but how they are saying to open the files don't work. I got it to open with Windows Live but...it was all code. Thanks for trying though

You could try sending the file to me to see if I could open it in Outlook if you like. Mines version 2007.

Do you have any idea what program you might have used to create the file? Print Shop also used .nws files if that could be a possibility, besides the outlook stuff. If it was a picture file such as one that could have been created in Print Shop, and you open it in a text editor type program, all you would see if a whole bunch of code that makes absolutely no sense. It might be something to look into. I might be able to help you test this out later since I don't have the software installed on my laptop at the moment.

I have no idea what program I used. I just barely remember starting a story. I could have used a picture program I suppose but I don't remember for sure. I'll look into that though.

LMK if you're still having problems with it. I can install the software and test it out for you.

Ok, so I tried to open it in a whole bunch of different programs, Print Shop, text editors, etc & unfortunately I think its corrupted. I get a single line of text numbers in every single program I've opened it in, or it simply wouldn't open at all. I even opened it in Hex Workshop to take a look and it contained pretty much the exact same thing I was seeing in the other programs, a single line of numbers but no real data or anything like you'd see if you opened up another file. If there was any kind of text in it at all, something would have shown up. I'm sorry
