So I'm thinking about starting a line of pure-bred non-inbred Aussies, and showing them. Anyone mind critiquing this pose? I have NEVER shown in the PC (awful, unaligned poses for shows back in '99 and '00 don't count haha), so I really have no experience in this sort of thing. I have a feeling the head should be turned just a tad more towards the camera, but the legs are fairly aligned and the eyes are nice and relaxed, am I right?

I love aussies! I have some purebred non-inbred ones, too <3
I'm not very good with alignment but I think the nose balls are too close together, implying the head isn't entirely centered?

Aussies are one of the easier breeds to pose. Your alignment is a tad of on the legs he is looking more to the right of the camera. If you can align his feet properly usually the head follows. Make sure when he starts posing correctly to reward him and then take several pictures so you can pick the one where he is breathing correctly too. Here is one of my best show aussies

Thanks Warhorse! Question, with your (stunning) Aussie, the left front leg shows just a tad from behind the right leg. I'm assuming that's okay since you said it's your best showing Aussie. I thought the front legs had to be aligned so that you can't see the the left front leg at all. Gosh, I'm such a showing newb lol

With OBs, I try to align both sets of legs to get like... an optimum level of alignedness. Or something, haha. I'd definitely use Warhorse's Aussie as a reference point because the body AND the head are centered and the head cannot be properly centered if the body is not centered.
I prefer to have some leg showing out in front vs behind because it automatically looks a lot less aligned if you show it in front. With your pose, you can clearly see the left front leg behind the right front leg and that's what makes it look unaligned and it is unaligned because the head is centered but it's not directly centered with the camera so it's too far away from the camera. If that makes any sense, haha.

I had always been trained to align both legs. Sometimes you can see a small line in front on some dalimations but on aussies because they have a fuzz of at least 1 or 2 you cant see that front line where both legs are aligned and they tend to have thicker legs and feet. I was taught that the best way to center the head is to be able to see both nostrils. That is one way to see if the head is centered right and if they are at the right breathing point. On the back legs most of the time if you align the back legs perfectly it might throw off the front legs. I do what artemis said I do my best to align both sets of legs evenly. This usually straightens out the body. Ill show you a few more examples this is phantom his show pose is not great. You could still use it but he wont always place or if he does it wont get him BIS or anything. Can you see whats wrong. First he is in an award breathing spot and secondly his head isn't really centered his feet are aligned. But as a judge I wouldnt place him that well This is Grenade. His is alot better than phantoms but his back legs are almost perfectly aligned but it throws off his front legs. If there was another aussie who had both legs aligned I would place them as a judge higher than grenade. the rest of his pose is almost flawless but the front legs bother me because I can see a small line. I did use this pose though to show him and he didnt alright. Now this is criminal she had a very shot show career and usually placed farely well and she also has a little of her back leg sticking out. but her legs are aligned, her head is centered and she you can see both of her nose shines. But once again out of all of these guys Azula on top still has the best pose
