I was wondering if anyone could give me advice or ideas of what I could do to make it maybe a little more appealing? Like adding something, getting rid of something and or changing something? I don't want to sound rude or anything but I probably know one of the first replys I'm going to get is that it looks like every other petz forum out there. I don't know how to make it look any different thats why I'm asking advice, oppinions, ideas from other people. Thank You deepshadowspetzforum.proboards.com/index.cgi

Oooh, I'd honestly never even seen this forum, so first things first, advertise I might have missed your thread in my absence, though Also, I think the light grey on the boards and such is too light for my eyes, and it kind of hurts to look at, especially with everything around it being light too. I think it could stay that color and be easy on the eyes if the background color gets darker Also, most anything that makes your forum unique. Just start brainstorming, and there's a good chance you'll end up with something great! Also, start some petz raffles/put up some freebie adoptions! Or if you hex, or have a good friend who hexes, you could get them to put up a non-freebie adoption with a new hex that is exclusive to your forum? And to be able to get one, the person has to be active for a certain amount of time? Just some ideas to get some interest! I'll be signing up, as it's always good to have another place to show your petz! ~Vanilla

It's tough for Petz forums to survive because you can't offer the same things as already popular forums. That's why something like Legend Ink survives (offers almost exclusively shows), Petz Sports Club (only sports), Duke's Group (natural raising), PCG offers a mix of RL/Petz which not many other forums do, etc. I can't really offer advice on what you can offer because adoptions and what not won't really draw people in. I know some forums that are active but smaller and offer similar things but have unique little features/groups and also have well-known/well-liked members who run them and that gives them a boost.
Right off the bat, it's too light. And it's not very appealing/interesting to the eye even if you did darken it. What I do when I make layouts is stick to one colour for all of the boards/background/everything and go slightly darker with the link colours/titles and then go for either white or black with the text depending on the overall colour scheme. Then I play up the background with a funky pattern but something that it's like... psychadelic, haha.
You don't seem to use many codes and they can definitely add to a forum. I use a forum narrowing code on Duke's Group to make everything look a bit more 'lively' (the descriptions make boards look larger) and I added some codings for personal messaging, added some coding for larger avatars, coding to make the banner take up the entire upper area so that it doesn't look as empty.

I didn't make the banner someone else did a couple of years ago and I don't know how to make one and I'm clueless when people talk about codes and such.
I just know the basics. How to do the colors, text, create boards, create catigories and all the controlls that the admin has. This might be why my forums is so boring.
If I were to make it look any better using the codes and whatever else I would need someone to become a mod. and who knows how to do this cause like I said I just know the basics of how to make a forum.

You do realize you can... google how to do this, right? I just googled 'Proboards coding' and the first link is the Proboards Code Database which is a complete collection of codes that do various functions. Spend some time looking through it to find codes that you think are interesting and mess around with it. It's easy to remove them if you don't like what they do. As for banners, you can request one if you have some images you'd like or have a colour scheme settled on. I make layouts for Duke's Group and they're usually seasonal so I'll make new banners every couple of months but you can settle on a permanent layout and make a banner (or get somebody to make a banner) that matches that one
