I'm sure we all know what bigfoot are, but just in case you don't or something:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigfoot
I think bigfoot is real. It wouldn't be impossible for a large ape to be able to survive in the wildernesses of north america. The flim just doesn't walk like a human to me.
(lol was watching the bigfoot guide on histroy channel last night)

I definitely think that picture from the Wiki is just a guy in an ape suit. xD However, there's a lot of fauna we don't even know about - and miles upon miles of unexplored wilderness, even now. Alaska is a good example. Some of the myths people would say are ridiculous could actually be true. Like the Loch Ness Monster. I definitely don't believe it's around anymore, but at one point there could have been a small population of "Nessies" that somehow eluded extinction. So hypothetically, I do believe that an evolution between ape and man could exist somewhere, especially with so much of our globe still highly unexplored. A couple examples: Kraken - (Means 'octopus' in German) Sailors returned from sea with stories of a giant tentacled beast. However, in 1997 New Zealand fishermen caught what they now call a "colossal squid." It was thirty feet long and has tentacles lined with "sharp, swiveling, three-pointed hooks." So maybe the sailors weren't all drunk after all. God-bear - Tribal elders in Siberia were telling stories about "so-called monster bears" when Swedish zoologist Sten Bergman was exploring there. When Bergmen didn't believe them, they produced pelts, skulls, and paw prints larger than those of any known bear in the region. And the villagers' description just so happened to match that of a prehistoric predator called the short-faced bear, one of the largest predatory animals ever to exist. So this short-faced bear, assumed extinct for 12,000 years, might still exist. Other scientists think it may be a colony of enormous black polar bears. Although, I can't say all of this is 100% accurate - it's all from an article in my funny-as-hell cracked.com book, and although it's generally true, it has been known to stretch the truth. I just find things like this interesting Regardless, it's fun to think about, isn't it? That we haven't already discovered everything on Earth, and it's time to move on to the rest of the universe? But then, this is my closet nerd thing. :C So maybe I'm just weird. Edit: I also just thought of the Thylacine. Presumed extinct, there have been possible sightings of them. Now, these "witnesses" could be full of manure - but then again, maybe they aren't. And if Thylacines still exist, now scientists could extract DNA from it and possibly, just maybe prevent it from going extinct again. At any rate, it would have better treatment than the last captive Thylacine, all those years ago. -_-

I personally believe that is entirely possible that a big foot type creature exists. There are many creatures on this earth that are being found every year, and there have even been some that were though to be extinct but have now been proven alive. I believe the myth started from something... so what is it?
And Rina... thanks for all the wonderful info!

LOL, no problem. like I said, this is my geek topic. ^^;;; It's because I was always watching those documentaries on the History Channel when I was stuck at my dad's house with nothing to do, but they'd get PO'd if I tried to leave the general area. -_-

On cattails I voted yes, so here I'm also voting yes. I believe there is a bigfoot out there, and even more then one.
I watched a documentary a year or so ago about thylacines! I do hope that they are still around or scientists make new ones. :3

It's entirely possible, but for now... we can't know for certain.

xD The entire concept, and how everyone's so freaked out by it that I've seen in documentaries and stuff, makes me laugh so hard.
In any case, I don't disbelieve or believe it. I don't know how 'plausible' it seems, but, I don't really disbelieve anything until it's proven false.

They already have DNA from the Thylacine - there are preserved fetuses in several prominant Australian museums. But due to the controversial nature of cloning and all of the bans and sanctions slapped on it, that more than likely will never happen - which I agree with. I mean, I love genetics, but some things we reallyyy shouldn't mess with.
That said, I kinda believe in Bigfoot... sorta? rofl. I've heard a lot of theories that it's this giant ape that went extinct 1 million years ago in China and crossed over the Bering land bridge or whatever, but I don't buy that really. The Gigantopethicus couldn't survive in the type of environment of the Pacific NW, since it's a tropical animal - most primates are. I like the idea of cryptozoology and all of these things we MIGHT not know exist, but some of the stories I hear are SO farfetched I'm like "LOL wut u smokin?"
BUT. It is interesting to see how many cultures have a similar creature! Bigfoot, Yeti of Siberia, Skunkape of Australia, etc etc - there may at one time been a critter that was widespread that fit those descriptions but later went extinct in the megafauna die out of 10k+ years ago. There's still huge tracts of land that haven't been properly explored and we're still discovering new terrestrial species every year.. WHO KNOWS.
But if they discover the Chupracabra, I'm out. Seriously.

No. >.>
Just because I'm so OMG CYNICAL that I don't believe anything that can't be proved, haha.

When I was little I was convinced I saw Bigfoot out in the woods. But I later learned it was just a bear. ^^;
