Debug or Abort Error? I hexed a custom of my Lion file for Catherine but we are having problems making him work for her, so I thought it best to ask for help. The original hex was made from the Desert Lynx file in P5 a long time ago. I've made several customs for people from the file and never had any problems. The people I hexed them for in the past had P5 however, so I never needed to convert them. I tried going the easy route at first, where I just converted the Desert Lynx to the Calico and then made it into a Unibreed to put into my P4 game to hex from so I could just adopt the cat once I was finished. He worked fine in my game, but when I sent him to Catherine she said she was getting an Abort/Debug error every time. I tried sending her the breed file I hexed and adopted him from, and she adopted him fine but later went to bring the adopted cat out after she put her original Calico file back into her game and got the same error again when trying to bring him out. We thought it might have something to do with it being a Unibreed, so I rehexed him from the Desert Lynx file and did NOT convert it to a Unibreed. I sent the file to Catherine so she could put it in her P5 and adopt him and then convert him to P4 afterward. She got the same error when she tried to take out the converted pet in P4. Catherine, feel free to add or correct anything in this thread, and add screen shots, etc. I hope we can figure this out so he will work for you! =} ^Kimba, the Lion in question.

What is the Soundz file for the Desert Lynx? Have you tried removing the sounds for the file? Either that or make sure the textures on the Texture List are all available in P4.

Haha you got here before me! I was just about to post mine (I was previewing it) when I read your email xD So uh I'm just gonna copy&paste it here hehe. -------------- Okay, so Cyove and I did a trade, no problems there - we've traded before and the files always worked perfectly. Cy works on P5 and I use P4, so usually it's just a simple conversion and that's that. HOWEVER, this time, I had requested to trade a file she made using the Desert Lynx file, but had converted onto a unibreed Cali file for me. I put the pet into my game, and Petz4 loads fine and all that. I try to bring him out and BAM, this happens: What the fig? At first we thought the .pet file corrupted whilst attaching so Cy sent it again. Nope, nada. Same thing happened. So I tried adopting a Cali from the AC, then copying the LNZ over from the original .pet file... Again, nothing. The "DEBUG OR ABORT!!" window popped up again when I tried to bring him out. I told Cyove, who then sent me the file it was made on, to see if it works to adopt a new pet for myself from the AC. I could do this, but as soon as I switched the original Cali file back, I couldn't bring the pet out again. BIZARRE. I thought perhaps it was something to do with the petz ID number and unibreed Cy used, so she tried even rehexing the file without use of unibreeds, then sent me the Desert Lynx file for P5. I adopted a pet fine, then when I tried to convert it to P4 again, everything failed once more. However, if I bring the original .pet file that Cy sent me into P5, it works perfectly fine. Just not in P4, nor when copied over, nor when adopted from a unibreed. WTF. tl;dr version: .pet file refuses to work in P4, brings up Unhandled Exception window every time, tried lots of things, can't figure out why.I tried googling it but the only things about the Unhandled Exception that comes up, to do with petz, is about the soundcard and Windows98, which isn't relevant since I run XP, or otherwise it's to do with deleting the Petz registry, which I'd rather not do because I'm scared it'll fail my entire computer. Cy and I are at our wits' end, and we have literally no idea what's going on. If anybody could help out, it would be absolutely fantastic! Thank you in advance, I will owe you my firstborn if you can help! C: edit: lol italics fail.

Thanks for posting, Catherine! =D Becca@Sungraze: I did not copy the sounds into the file when I converted it. I copied what was below that. This is the texture list: [Texture List] \art\textures\CALI5.bmp 1 256 256 \art\textures\PLUSH.bmp 1 256 256 \Resource\Catz\WILLOW8.bmp 0 256 256 As mentioned, he works fine in my P4 game, so I'm not sure what's going wrong.

But there is some important information right above the [Soundz] file, primarily the [Default Linez File]. You did copy that part, right?
The texture list looks fine, but you may want to add in the [Soundz] into the file, even if you don't actually put in any soundz. Just the little title to make sure the file doesn't freak out because of that.

This is what is located at the beginning of the Desert Lynx breed file for the adult. I did not copy this information.
[Default Linez File] \ptzfiles\cat\catmaster.lnz
[Little one] dlkit.lnz
[Sounds] \ptzfiles\cat\dl\dlsnd.txt
[Breed Name] DesertLynx
------------------------ I copied from: ;Colour, group [256 Eyelid Color] All the way down to the end of the file.
------------------------ When I pasted it into the Calico file, I selected from: ;Colour, group [256 Eyelid Color] All the way down to the end of the file and pasted over it.
------------------------ This is located at the top of the kitten. I did not copy this information: ; Desert Lynx kitten
[Default Linez File] \ptzfiles\cat\dl\dl.lnz
------------------------ For the kitten, I copied from: [Head Enlargement] All the way down to the end of the file, and also pasted that over the Calico kitten from the same section all the way down to the end of the file.
------------------------ Can the sound issue explain why Catherine was not able to convert him from the cat she adopted from the Desert Lynx file though? I did not remove any portions of the file when I sent it to her, so the sounds should all be present still in that. The error didn't happen until she tried to bring out the pet she converted.

If she copied the Desert Lynx LNZ into a Calico file, that would cause a problem. She would have to remove the Soundz for that converted cat or re-route them to the Calico soundz.

Hmm I went and copied the sound things from the P4 Calico breedfile just in case though... idk idk :C

Yeah. If she hadn't replaced the Desert Lynx soundz, Petz 4 doesn't have those sounds at all.
This is hard to figure out if you don't have the LNZ in front of you though. I can't just imagine
Verbassert usually pops up if there is a clash in versions (a P4 item in P5 or a P5 item in P4) so it has something to do with that. I'm giving this a shot with my Calico & Desert Lynx files to see if I have an issue ;D
EDIT: I don't. I converted a Desert Lynx file to a P4 Calico file without a problem.

So basically, all we have to copy/paste into Kimba's file is this from the Calico breed file? [Sounds] \ptzfiles\cat\ca\casnd.txt
Thank you very much for your assistance, Artemis! =D

You can give it a shot. I don't know if it will work.

Replacing the sounds with what I listed above did not help. I replaced them both in the Adult and Kitten Lnz section of the converted pet in P4. The Abort/Debug error still appears.
I also tried replacing this: [Breed Name] DesertLynx [Little one] dlkit.lnz
With this: [Breed Name] Calico [Little one] cakit.lnz
In both the Adult and Kitten Lnz of the converted pet. It didn't work, the Abort/Debug message still appears.
I don't suppose you would be willing to let me send you my Lion file to try and see if you could figure anything out with it? =0

^ yeah I tried that, and it was still that I could open P4, but the Unhandled Exception thing popped up when I clicked the pet from the dropdown list. :<
