After seeing a post on here I got to thinking... people have been hounding me for my Christmas list for the past few weeks so I've been thinking "what can I ask for", well a post on here got me thinking... ipod lol, but before I go that route I wanted to ask one thing. (I feel like i asked it on here or on another forum before but I looked on here and didn't find anything so guess I didn't).. anyway I was wondering how you pay for songs using ITunes? Do you have to have a credit card or can you mail a check or something (which is what I would have to do since I don't have a credit card (and have no plans on getting one).
Guess I thought I better ask before I write that on my list lol.

I'm pretty sure you use a credit card, as I think you need one to sign up to use the Apple Store (as I think I would have signed up by now if I didn't need one, haha).

You need a Debit or Credit card, yes. It's only incase you overspend on your iTunes Voucher limit, they take the remaining amount from your bank account.
I've been charged stupid things like 29p before because I overspent on a £15 iTunes voucher by that much ahaha.

If you have a checking account, it's the same as using a debit card really. It takes it right out of your account when you make a purchase. ^^

hm.. don't have a debit card or credit card, but I can easily get a debit card (once I get a bit more money in my checking account so that should be no big deal).
This may be a silly question but what exactly is a itune voucher limit? (guess this shows how little I know about using Itunes I guess).

^ However much you've got on your voucher.
If you've got a $15 iTunes gift voucher, you can only spend $15. Or pay the remaining fee yourself if it overspills.

Actually, you dont need the debit card or credit card. I have an account, and i dont have any of those XD If you buy a "voucher"(gift card, or whatever you wish to call it XD) before you make an account you can use that. This way iTunes wont have your credit card number haha.

Instead of posting a new board about this topic, I decided to just revive my old one. Well last year I ended up not getting one (since stuff came up and that was more important than getting a ipod). But now I believe I can get one. I'm looking at the ipod touch 4g. I've been doing lots of research as well as looking up videos on youtube and I have just one question (it's probably silly). I just watched a "unboxing" video to the ipod I'm considering purchasing and it mentions it didn't come with something that connects it to itunes on the computer, but the video showed a little small dock, however it also showed a little usb "synch" cable. Wouldn't that work (the usb cable that comes with it) to connect the ipod to itunes or do I need to find and purchase the little dock too? (If I need to post a link to the video I watched let me know). Decided to post links to two things I found... (to connect a ipod to itunes), do I need either of these: Universal Dock Adapteror USB Sync & Charge Dock Connector Data Cable^ The "Universal Dock Adapter" is the thing I was talking about in the post, I just ran up on the USB cable after posting.

The second thing is what I have... it came with the iPod, so I'm pretty sure you don't need to buy it separately, lol. It connects the iPod to the laptop, I have no idea what the first thing you posted is; I've never seen it.
But uh, yeah, that chord definitely comes with it and when I connect the iPod to the laptop, it automatically connects my iPod to iTunes.

I had a feeling it would work but I wanted to make sure I didn't have to buy any extra little things lol.
I was sitting here watching the video again (in case I overlooked something) thinking "ok that cable should work, why would they have packaged it if it didn't". lol.
Thanks for the reply *goes off to order the ipod*.
Oh and this is a very stupid question, but my father (who thinks he knows everything about computers and ipods (although he's never even seen a ipod lol), claims they charge so much (he claims $90 a month to use them - I have NO idea where he heard of such..- ). I thought "now that's crap there's no way" lol. Is the only thing that I have to pay for is my purchases. (I have a feeling I know this answer but I want to prove him wrong (as silly as it sounds) lol. I've told him the only thing I have to pay for is my purchases. I think he's just trying to talk me out of getting one, so he's making up stuff.

LOL that's a ridiculous accusation. All you pay for is purchases of songs and apps. You don't need to make a monthly payment to use internet, etc. (as it hooks onto your house's wifi/free public wifi/etc)
