I have reason to believe I have contracted some sort of virus. A few days ago I was googling baby countdown tickers for my signature and every single site that I tried to go to redirected me to random sites and such. And since then my computer has been having lots of problems. Most of my programs won't open or they close immediately a split second after opening. Things even as simple as Wordpad or Notepad do this. I can't open my AntiVir virus program either. An hour glass cursor appears for a second, then nothing ever happens. My Internet also keeps freezing every single time I try to use it and I can't do anything until I close it by clicking the X button and clicking "End Now". Some boxes keep popping up saying that Adope Flash plugin has crashed on the Internet, and also boxes on my computer keep popping up saying to run the antivirus program or something (it doesn't say a program name) but it just keeps popping up over and over even if I click NO or YES, and there is no X button to close it since it is greyed out. The sound keeps going out on the computer also since that day.
Does anyone know any free antiviruses to download that will take care of this? I can't hex anything for anyone or do anything on my computer until it's fixed, I can't even play games or type documents or anything. I'm on a different computer to type this, since it wouldn't let me do it on my computer.
Many thanks to anyone that can help. I am so frustrated right now.

I would download MalwareBytes, then reboot your computer into Safe Mode. Install MalwareBytes, and run a full scan on your machine. I have yet to see a virus so tenacious it can survive that.

Thank you Brynn. I shall give that a try now.
Edit: Would someone mind explaining to me how to run the computer in Safe Mode? Upon start up it does not go to a screen where it says "Run in Safe Mode" so I am not sure what buttons to press or at what time during start up. =S
Edit 2: Okay, I found out you have to press F8 repeatedly at the black screen with the white letters.
Also, I was curious if after you do the Full Scan if it gives you the ability to kill the viruses and delete them forever. It seems to be taking a long time to do the scan, so I was just wondering if after you wait the whole time if it will actually kill the viruses for you. =/

www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtmlAnd I totally agree with Brynn on the program she reccomended. I downloaded it a while back and nothing has been able to touch my computer for a while. (I believe you will have to select for them to destroy the viruses, but the more often you scan, the less time it takes. I run mine every day when I go to school and it doesn't take much longer than an hour, but that's because my computer is virus free. It's probably chugging through a lot of stuff at the moment on yours. It took a whole night for me the first time I did it.)

Thank you very much for the link to the Safe Mode instructions, Selena.
It hasn't found any "infected" things so far, but you're right, it probably has a lot of stuff to go through. =S I'll let it go over night if I have to, I just would love for my PC to be back to normal. ^^; I miss my games already! Lol.
I hope this will work for me as well as it has worked for both of you. Thank you again, both of you. I really appreciate your help! =D
Edit: It found 5 Trojan thingies, and one MyWebSearch thing, whatever that is. It removed them all, it said. So hopefully everything is back to normal now. I hope! ^^;

Malwarebytes is the best Anti virus I've ever had. It beat all of my paid-for antivirus programs hands-down! I usually run a weekly full-scan (takes about 2 hours) to make sure nothing's lurking in my PC. I recommend you do the same. I have a feeling you contracted Conficker (April Fool's virus) because it affects your computer's ability to open antivirus software. It will also try to redirect web browsers if it thinks you're going to try and zap it with antivirus downloads
