I'm looking for opinions on what is the preferred method of obtaining petz for the games. When you visit a petz web site, what do you look for most? Do you go for .pet files or .cat/.dog files? I find that I look at the hexie adoptions the most. I don't like to depend on non-ow breedz in my games. This seems odd, I'm sure... since my own site is mostly downloadable non-ow breedz. However, my site _is_ old. My newer breedz are ow unibreedz due to my own preference. I'm trying to decide on a big change for my old files... this is the reason for this thread.

I don't mind downloadable non-OW breeds, but mainly if they contain lots of variation in the breed itself so I can purebreed them and not just come out with the same thing over and over. So generally I would keep to downloadable OWs.
Adoption-wise, I generally prefer OBs, whether they've had OWs used or not I don't mind. It's just such a hassle when there are mixed breeds with non-OBs - I mean sure, they can be sent along with the pet, but it also makes adopting out babies bred with that pet more of a problem too. Personally, it would put me off. Unless it's an Aussie. But then, I don't mix-breed my Aussies haha, and I don't really adopt non-purebred ones either!

When it comes to breeding I just like to see what I can get out of the game the way it was created, so I only breed with OB files and don't use any OWs. In the past there were always 1 or 2 files I really liked, but I always had seperate lines and never mixed anything. For hexies I prefer .cat/.dog files, though I rarely adopt any... they really need to be drop dead gorgeous.

Personally, it would put me off. This is the way I feel as well. Although I have adopted some prettiez that required a breedfile. (My recent American Shorthair adoption. ) You see, I have many, many files on my site... very old breedz, some of them I look at now and think, "yeeesh". I recently discovered that I have issues with some of my patched files too. I'm debating on what to do with them, and all future workz. Honestly, I like to do what pleases me. It's my hobby afterall. However, I have the site to share my fun, so I want folks who visit to say "weee!" not "yeeesh!". >..< *edit* And btw, thank you all for your input. I am taking it all into consideration.

I very rarely adopt non-OBs... OW bred petz are good, though.

It depends - If I like the pet enough, I won't mind what it requires, though a mix with 5738237838 extra files needed would put me off a bit I prefer breedfiles, though, since you won't be getting the same exact pet as somebody else, lol. Ahh, I remember my first hexies...they were downloads *nostalgia attack*

The only time I adopt non-OWs is for PKC, and that's almost exclusively on PKC itself. Most people there don't adopt out from their sites so the problem kinda solves itself haha.
If it's from a regular petz site and I see it requires files, I won't adopt no matter how much I like the pet. I have so many files in my game already for PKC that I really don't feel like adding another just because some random pet needs it.

I usually only look at OBs...I'm not a big fan of overwrites either :P. OB hexes are fun too, though!

These are all helpful opinions!
Interesting though, this past couple of weeks, I posted two pages of request adoptables. First, a page of OB bred catz with possibly some OW in their lineage, posted on 10.06.10, and a page of my 'old hexed dogz' posted on 10.11.10. Curious... my page of 'old hexed dogz' 5 out of 13 adopted thus far, yet none of the catz adopted. Maybe the speed-breeding turns folks off... or they're just not attractive enough? =\ I think my taste is a bit too 'old school' for most.

Haha! You're both very kind... and I'm so glad you enjoy your petz from PB! *pig out* I was just thinking by the general consensus here, I would have expected the OB kittyz to go first, and more quickly. It just happened in the reverse. Of course, I suppose it may have helped to post more info on each kitty. *is lazy* I am a "looks" adopter. If I like the way a pet looks, I rarely worry about the info.
