I get that EVERY time I start up P5. It was okay up until now because I'm ANNOYED of it very much now. -___-; How do I get rid of it? I've tried reinstalling it a couple of times but it still doesn't remove that annoying pop-up... I have Windows 7, btw. ^-^

It sounds like a pet is corrupted :[
Try removing all your pets and put them back one by one. When that message pops up, there's your corrupted petter.

No, no, no, no! >_<; It was like that when I FIRST installed it, even before getting ANY petz whatsoever. xD So I dunno what the problem is.

Well you said it was ok up until now so I thought you NEVER getting that message.
Try checking our Windows Vista FAQ, since 7 has much of the same problems.

Heh... I have this exact, same problem. I've had it ever since I installed it, and it's never gone away. It's annoying, yes, but you get used to it. Why's it there? Dunno. Can you get rid of it? Dunno. But I can assure you, I've had this error for many years and it's not because of an infected pet or breedfile, and it's not going to hurt/crash/damage any of your pets. If you choose, you can just ignore it and it won't bring any harm. However, if you're looking to get rid of it... no ideas from here. I've tried everything I can think of, and nothing. xD

If you've been hexing it's because you've either put the wrong version of a breedfile in your game (ie one that was meant to be for d3/4) or you've corrupted a file. try redownloading all of your OBs back into your game.
btw your signature is huge, not to wannamod lol

^ Ahh thanks for the reminder, I was just randomly picking out images earlier when I was fixing my sig. Oh and I guess I can live with this problem ... But yeah it has nothing to do with my files. I meant I was dealing with this problem 'okay'-ish up until now because it's gotten sooo annoying... >_> If it can't be fixed then oh well. *__*

hmmm. I have petz 3 and I get this message all the time but the game will still allow me to run it. Yeah mine still runs too but I just hate always having to click through the piles of pop-ups that follow before the game fully loads... There's like 15 pop-ups! Okay well I guess since I know now that I am not the only one experiencing this, I feel a little bit better about it. lol

mine used to.. then just stopped doing it one day. ;; though it started after I put a p4 pet in the game without actually importing into P5.. once the pet was gone it stopped... but now it does it again? D: lol and Idont have any p4 petz. :/

There is no verbassert.dll in Pez 5. It originally dealt with sound problems in Petz 4. Ubi Soft didn't remove the error checking function it had.. If you see that message in Petz 5 it is because the game found a Petz 3 or 4 file in your game. It most likely is a breed file but could also be clothes, a toy, or a playscene. You can use LNZ Pro to view breed and toy files and see their ID's and game versions:
Open LNZ Pro.
In the File menu, click on Open folder.
You will get two windows. The window on the left shows your directory/folder tree. Click on the game you are checking.
The window on the right will then display the folders for the game you checked. Click on Resource.
The window on the right will then display the folders in the Resource folder. Click on Catz, Dogz or Toyz, depending upon which one you want to check.
The window on the right will then display all the files in the folder you chose. At the top you will see two tabs. Click on Breeds and toys.
You will now have a window on the right that has three columns. The first column gives the name of the breed or toy, the second column tells you which game version it is for and the third column displays the ID number.
If you are checking Breed ID's, be sure to check BOTH Catz and Dogz. Cat and Dog breeds can conflict with each other. Strange, but true. LO
