Today I was finally able to install the Petz4 demo and PetzA together and get them to work fine!=D That made me super happy for a moment, untill I found out I could not play with my petz in the P4 game... Since I only used to have Petz5 I played with all my petz there, even the ones that were bred by other people in P4. So I figured, once I got P4 to work I could just simply put those petz in the 4th version and be all set. It's weird though, because I do have one hexed pet in the game...she doesn't work in P5, because the external texture is to big, but how come the other petz I have that were originally bred in P4 don't work then? I hope that I'm making any sense to anybody, because I would be so thrilled if I could actually play and breed my beloved petz in P4 also... Thank you for any help in advance<3
Edit: Everytime I put a pet file in the adopted petz folder of the Petz4 game it says: Data corrupt. Could not load [Petz name]. When I start the game...

This is due to the "upconversion" ability of Petz 5. When you put a pet into Petz 5, the game converts it to be used with Petz 5. At that point it can no longer be used in Petz 4. Unfortunately I don't think anyone has managed to figure out how and why this occurs (might be my next project), so your petz will no longer work with P4. The only way you can get them into P4 is to copy their info in LNZPro and paste it into a pet from P4, overwriting all of the second pet's information. This however results in the loss of all information about the pet including personality, genetics, and family tree.

Some of them I have still in my inbox...I could use them to put in the game right? I'll go see if that works. To bad that the game converts the files, it would have been nice to play with all all of them in P4 also. Thanks for the info^^.

If they haven't been put in P5, and they're originally from P4, then yes, they'll work in the game. ^____^

I think that maybe they don't work because they changed their company from PF Magic to UbiSoft, and UbiSoft made it a different type of file, perhaps programmed deep into it. I'm not sure if that's very accurate though... but I do find it annoying how I can't have all my petz in both games. D:

It's very likely. Other possible reasons for no-backwards compatibility: Happy Pet Certificates Multiple Births Etc.
There's a ton of reasons. However I think it's a matter of code being inserted, rather than modified wholesale, otherwise we wouldn't be able to copy paste the LNZ info back and forth.

All I know, and I don't know much on this matter is that neither the multiple birthes nor the happy pet certificate are causing that problem. Domi told me it has to do with the graphical part. Petz3 and 4 petz run under a different graphical setting as the petz5 ones. All petz4 ones you import into petz5 get converted (not only petzy wise, but graphic wise too) to the petz5 standard. In petz 4 and older this standard is not existent, simply not there. So petz cannot read the files because they got extra data in them that petz4 and older cannot read. For petz4 and older versions those pet files simply are corrupted.
sorry, this is all I know.
how to correct this? I have no idea...sorry
