What is your favorite movie/book genre? What I mean by alternative are those movies that don't really fit into any other catagory or fit into too many catagories and are really just hard to catagorize.
Mine are sci-fi (books, movies), fanatasy (books, movies), and a GOOD action movie/manga. I love H.G. Wells's sci-fi books, and I consider them true science fiction (things like Star-Wars I do not as it has no basis in real science/theories and doesn't pose any theories). As a general rule, I love fantasy, as long as it's not too cutesy. As for action, I like movies and manga with a well thought plot coupled with good action (Animatrix=love), gore is not a factor for me. I also like a good horror story now and then, but horror movies make me laugh.

For books, I'm all about Sci/Fantasy; I usually just go to that section in the book store lol. I also LOVE Historical Fiction and Non-Fiction. My favorites definitely are Earth's Children and the First North Americans saga for fiction, but for non fiction, I love reading about serial killers from the 1800s/early 1900s, or the history of Chicago. Movies I like action/thriller/fantasy but they're so failing this year >< Disappointed with Wolverine [godddd it had Gambit tho <3] and I'm reallyyyy hoping the new Terminator will be good. I've a lot pickier with my movies than with my books, so it's hard to please me lol. Though... I'm starting to FINALLY watch the original Star Wars and I'm starting to like it >< I want a frickin Ton Ton >> Horror I'm ehhh on it... TOO MANY bad horror movies/books, but Joe Hill writes some awesome horror. Horror movies I can't stand... cause I'm a wimp I reallyyyy wanna see A Haunting in CT though. I saw the actual documentary on what happened in that house on Discovery and that sucked me in.

All of the above?
I like my books & movie scripts to be well written. A well written movie, regardless of genre, will capture my attention and make it's way onto my "Like it" list. I like a wide variety of genres, so I could never pick just one. (F.ex. My top five movies are War, Drama, Documentary, Suspense, and Horror... a nice variety).
I do find the genre which I find most well written/played is Accurate, Drama-War movies.

I tend not to actually watch movies, but I always love a well made, well thought out comedy movie. Books... well, anything by Terry Pratchett (has anybody noticed that I slip his books into nearly every conversation yet?), sci-fi type things, comedy, some horror... and fantasy, but only as Skitch said, if it's not too "cute-sy". Anything with cynical/sarcastic humor in it, is right up my street!
