Rewards will be given to the people who take the time to write tutorials for me.. I am talking about textures in the game btw, for petz 5! =D

ok using the great dane as an example
you have [Texture List] \art\textures\jowl1.bmp 1 \art\textures\hair6.bmp 1 \art\textures\hair10.bmp 1
now say you want to use the scotties texture instead, well scotties use hair3 (just copy and paste the texture line from the scotties file)
\art\textures\hair3.bmp 1
now danes use 3 textures (as shown above) now in this example I want to only use 1 texture but I don't want to have to make alot of changes (cause I would have to check each ball) so I will just do this
[Texture List] \art\textures\hair3.bmp 1 \art\textures\hair3.bmp 1 \art\textures\hair3.bmp 1
and now the whole great dane uses hair3
--- now for Paint Ballz
the comment ;base ball etc.. tells you that the "texture" number is 5 numbers after the color number
[Paint Ballz] ;base ball diameter(% of baseball) direction color outlinecolor fuzz outline group texture ;paws (all the paws info) #8.E;snout spot #7 #6 56, 70 -.8, -.8, -1 35 15 4 -1 4 1 0 56, 70 .8, -.8, -1 35 15 4 -1 4 1 0 #5 #4 #3 #2 #1 ## ;
so you would change that "texture" number to the texture number you want for this example we will keep the great danes original textures and just add the hair3 to the list to use for the paint ballz stuff.
[Texture List] \art\textures\jowl1.bmp 1 \art\textures\hair6.bmp 1 \art\textures\hair10.bmp 1 \art\textures\hair3.bmp 1
now to get the texture number for the paint ballz (spots)you need to count the textures like so;
[Texture List] 0 \art\textures\jowl1.bmp 1 1 \art\textures\hair6.bmp 1 2 \art\textures\hair10.bmp 1 3 \art\textures\hair3.bmp 1
so under paint ballz we want to change the texture number to 3
[Paint Ballz] ;base ball diameter(% of baseball) direction color outlinecolor fuzz outline group texture ;paws (all the paws info) #8.E;snout spot #7 #6 56, 70 -.8, -.8, -1 35 15 4 -1 4 3 0 56, 70 .8, -.8, -1 35 15 4 -1 4 3 0 #5 #4 #3 #2 #1 ## ;
----------------
The comments in some of the different sections tell you which ball is for what
[Add Ball] ;base x y z color otlnCol spckCol fuzz group outline ballsize bodyarea addGroup texture
__
;srt end fuzz col lfCol rtCol sThck eThick [Linez]
__
[Paint Ballz] ;base ball diameter(% of baseball) direction color outlinecolor fuzz outline group texture
__
;col outCol spklCl fuzz otlntTyp sizeDif group texture ball# [Ballz Info]
__
hope this helps

Ah.. very well explained. But I have a question to go with this, I hope petzmail doesn't mind by me asking in this thread.. but where to you put outside textures so you can use them in .pet files? If I'm understanding your question right then external textures can be put almost anywhere, I perfer to put external(outside) textures in the \resource\dogz (or catz) folder with the breedfile, the one adopting a pet that uses that texture would need a copy of the external texture to place in their \resource\dogz (or catz) folder. in the Texture list it would point to the external texture like this (taken from one of my Muttlie files that I just did a litter of) [Texture List] \resource\dogz\scmuttlie1.bmp 30 \resource\dogz\scmuttlie1.bmp 30 \resource\dogz\scmuttlie1.bmp 30 so in the .pet file it will point to the same place (texture list taken from Muttlie using that texture) [Texture List] \resource\dogz\scmuttlie1.bmp 30 256 256 \resource\dogz\scmuttlie1.bmp 30 256 256 \resource\dogz\scmuttlie1.bmp 30 256 256 hope this helped...
