I have been doing some researching on these type of cats, and learned some new things. 1) They are usually female 2) Males are usually born ginger (orange) 3) I am assuming this makes torties, calicos, and related orange cats the same 'breed'? Click here to learn moreOk. Before I knew this, I deleted the part in the calico breedfile that says "force to female" Would anyone be kind enough to copy and paste that part here so I can use it again? And let me know where, exactly, I need to put it, please Ok. My second question involves variations in the calico breedfile. Is it possible to specify to the game that I want calico-looking kitties as females, and orange kitties as males (in the calico breedfile)? In other words, the variations would be sex-linked. If anyone has some comments or suggestions, I would REALLY appreciate it ;D Thank you for your time!

Calicos are always female in real life. At least that is what my biology teacher told me. He said he would give me a moneyprize if I could find and show him a male Calico. Never bothered to find one though. But he said there are no male Calicos. I would jump for joy if I could prove him wrong, lol.

Hehe, your teacher may be right. . . but I also heard that males that have reproductive problems (i won't get into details) could also be calicos (another interesting fact I heard was that many white cats are deaf)

many white animals in general can be deaf i think its due to the pigments int heir skin or genes or who knows! They are also very prone to be sunburnt!
I heard that only males possess the gingery colour of so i got told by my chemistry teacher too so i believe your right there as well ;D

There have to be male calicos somewhere; how can there be purebred Calicos if there aren't? o.O'

I think[/] mixing a female calico with an orange male (same breed) makes female calicos and orange males
Thats my guess though!

Let me tell you all about I saw something in one of my magazines once:
In my monthly magazine,Your Cat,I saw an article on a male torbie cat.I nearly fainted when I saw this,as the chances of getting a male calico are 6 milllion to 1.
Apparently it's something to do with genes that causes this that I can't be bothered to type down. XD
Some day I'll scan the article and post it here,so Lani you can have a chance to jump for joy. ;D

[ geekiness ] The calico gene is actually linked to the X chromosome - this is why it is extremely slim to none that anyone will breed a male calico. To get a male calico, the cat essentially has to have either the genetic makeup XY (BUT have the x "turned off" as to still be male) or to be XYY (even rarer). Both possibilities are prone to rampant defects, especially with XYY as an added chromosome can just be sticky (like in human Down's Syndrome), and in male XY, testosterone production is either minimal or very hampered so there is often problems there as well. Purebred calicos probably mean that simply the mother is strongly carrying the cali gene and none of the father's color genes are ever expressed. [ /geekiness ] As far as I can remember Force to Female either goes right after Addballz with the rest of the variations, or it goes immediately after the ballz variations. To double-check I would redownload the calico breed and make sure. hope that helps.
