I don't know who did it, and as far as I know I've not done anything wrong, but someone's smited me! For no reason! I don't know if this goes here or not, and whether mods or anyone can do anything about it, but all I'm asking is why....

We only look into it when a member gets smited repeatedly in a relatively short period of time, which may then qualify as Karma abuse. If this happens to you, send me a PM about it directly. In the case of a single smite, though, we can't do anything, otherwise we'd be busy 24/7 asking why this member smited this other member

Thanks ratqueen. I was getting a bit worried as I try my best to follow rules and be friendly and helpful, and I got worried I'd gone wrong somewhere. I didn't know if a mod had smited me for a rule break or something, but your post has reassured me.

I didn't know if a mod had smited me for a rule break or something, but your post has reassured me. Nah, if mods see someone breaking the rules they just generally warn them - depending on the severity, with a warning bar. (I save the smiting for rude people, heh. ) And yes, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It is rather upsetting at first, but you know whether you deserve one or not, and there are always going to be people who disagree with you, or are crazy. (I learnt that from Serebii forums - whew, if I could have a MPC for every time someone disagreed with me. Wait. Or are crazy. )

Thanks Raavyn- you too have reassured me. It's just a bit upsetting, I don't know why...just feels like someone really doens't like you, has it in for you, tries to make you look bad...and its just uncomfortable. Odd explanation, I know...but its how I feel

sorry for spamming but i felt like i had to say this: Loxfiredance, i know exactly what you mean when you said that you feel like you look bad, for a while a had 20 karma and then it was smitted and i had 19 and i felt like i was so much lower. It was a really weird feeling and very uncofortable. dont worry it goes away once you get exalted again

People usually know when they have done something worth smiting. If you don't believe you have done something to upset someone, then it is much more likely that the smiter simply didn't know what the link was for. We get new members all the time, and they could just be experimenting and you were unluckily the guineapigs, hehe. Don't worry about it. With the Karma you guys have, one more or less won't even tip the scale! ;D

Cool, thanks Shaki Kool K9 - I'm glad there's another out there who felt the karma loss like I did - it's an odd feeling, and i thought I was just being stupid, but now I know it happens to other too. Thanks

That's true. It just feels a little horrid that someone wanted to smite you for no reason.

Today I got smiten for what I know as no reason twice I had 0 karma and then there was -2. I don't know why. A lot of people come forward saying they were smited for no reason. However, what may seem like no reason to you, may be a valid reason for someone else. I checked the security log and you were smited by two different persons at different times during the day, so it doesn't look like there's any Karma abuse in this case. I'm going to lock this thread, as there's no point in discussing smiting here.
