exalt means to add to a person's karma (that is a good thing) and smite means to get rid of a karma points (if the person does a bad thing)

Exalt gives someone +1 karma Smite takes away 1 karma (You can see how high or low your karma is whenever you post, or in your profile. You start at zero by default) If you appreciate something someone does for you, you can Exalt them and give them a karma point. On the other hand, if they're being a disruptive member or something, you can smite them. Go HERE for a full explenation of the Karma system. Basically, when you exalt somebody, you are adding one point to the "Karma" count. when you smite them, you are removing one point from the "Karma" count in their profile.
