I have a pet in Petz 4 that has a parent who is a (P5 Unibreed) Pug and the pet is mute.
I know there's a utility that is supposed to fix this, but I can't install that .exe on this computer.
Is there a way to fix a pet's mute issue with LNZ or hex-editing the pet?
Thanks!

This is the way I have my game set up, so I don't often encounter mute Petz at all! I go to Carolyn's site, find Sounds on the left-hand menu, and click on Catz\Dogz Sounds. For you, you'd just want the Pug Sounds on this page. But to avoid this problem with original breeds in the future, I actually recommend downloading ALL of the original breed sounds here, and putting them into place in your main Petz directory. (The same place as your Adopted Petz folder) This is basically the pathway that a lot of P5 bred Petz are trying to link their sounds to, but they're not there (at least externally?) in P4...but putting them there fixes the problem! ^^ It's my personal favorite method because it's a little tedious, but only the one time, and then ALL Petz with that issue are instantly fixed and you don't have to edit one single .pet file! Worth it, to me xD

OMG he is adorable! Did you get him from a PUGs shop? or a trade.

OMG he is adorable! Did you get him from a PUGs shop? or a trade. He's a birthday gift!! 🥰 He's actually a brexed dog from two of kathleen's crew members which I'm so happy for 🥺 so he's not like a hexie from an archive-- he's unique! I'm super grateful and feeling really touched (emotional) because he's perfect and I'm always shocked when I get something that was given with so much care and thoughtfully gifted-- I need to show him off in a thread when I have more time!! I'm really happy 💖

But I discovered he actually is a Bulldog personality! And his sound was pointing to a Great Dane (gd)! So that's why he was mute! So, another reason for mute petz is the [Sounds] don't match the personality (SCP).
Yep, that's what causes P5 mixies to be mute. I used to fix them by hand before I started using the Unmute utility.
That little bulldog is super cute!!
And happy belated birthday to you!

That little bulldog is super cute!! [heart] And happy belated birthday to you! [bday] Thank you! Yep, that's what causes P5 mixies to be mute. I used to fix them by hand before I started using the Unmute utility. I didn't want to use the unmute utility because it makes me install it....? Which is annoying. And it seems like its pretty easy to fix with LNZPro anyway! I learned to fix this problem on a .pet level too! Before I thought that the SCP has to match the filepath. But! you just download the files from Carolyn's site for the P5 breeds and put them in the ptzfile paths (making those directories yourself) and then you can change any .pet file to be any [Sound] path! I think this is what CatCreature may have been trying to tell me!

Yes and no! Everything you said, except the bolded/underlined part, is what I was trying to tell you. I believe they unzip in the correct paths (ptzfile/dog/BREEDNAME) and you just put that folder in your main Petz directory and that's it. There usually isn't any need to change any .pet files at all, which is why I like it. It's a one-time fix-all for any mute P5 Petz that come along, without needing to edit every freaking .pet file that you get. At least that's been my experience with it. xD

Thank you for enlightening me. I like... didn't realize this the first time you said it and learned it a second time from someone else and then realized "oh yes CatCreature said this". Thank you so much for your patience 💜 (My problem was actually different because I think it was a mistake when brexing-- he was meant to have bulldog sounds not great dane sounds!)
