One thing I've been mildly confused/unsure about since I started playing Petz, when it comes to adopted Petz - what's the general consensus on the owner name? So with adopted Petz I've just been leaving the owner names as the original, because I didn't want to forget who I got the pet from (nor did I want to feel like I was taking credit for it). But I'm wondering, within the community is this what we're supposed to do? Or am I supposed to change the name to mine, since technically I am the owner of the pet now? (And if I was to do playdates I'm not sure if having the original owner's name on there instead would get confusing?) This probably is a silly question but I was just wanting some clarification in case I was supposed to be changing it

I think the vast majority of players keep the original owner name on a pet! As you mentioned, it's really helpful to have it there so you can always remember who you adopted it from. Plus it keeps family trees accurate, and it can help you identify what prefix to use if you plan to show the pet. If you breed that pet however, then the baby's owner's name would be yours. Hope that helps Nyro! ^^

It's not a silly question! I always keep the names, it makes it easier to keep track of who bred/hexed a certain pet. It's especially useful to have that information easily available when you're showing petz or updating your crew site. Also, this doesn't matter a whole lot to me, but I do think it's neat when I look at a pet's family tree and see who bred the various ancestors. I've never heard of issues with petz being returned after playdates. What I usually do when I host a playdate is to just check my email or Discord to see who sent which file and send it back that way. In fact, I find that easier since I don't have to manually check in-game I delete playdate file emails but only after I've sent back the pet (so I can keep track). I think most people probably do it this way! If you're worried, you could always write a little note in the pet's bio. (It would probably be fine to change the owner's name temporarily, but probably not very useful if people don't check it when returning, and not very practical if pets are going to breed during the playdate or if you lose track of the original name, etc.)

I've just been leaving the owner names as the original, because I didn't want to forget who I got the pet from This is what I do! Keeping the owner name of the person you adopted a pet from is the standard. But it's not enforced or expected in any way, I think, and no one would bat an eye if you didn't - it's just what everyone has come to find the most convenient, for reasons stated above.

I tend to keep it, because it reminds me of where I got the pet from, and who. :-) But it's totally up to you.
