Trying DESPERATELY to pose my first, and currently only, show dog. I've read through the guide, and been lifting and placing the dog repeatedly, gotten the feet PERFECTLY lined up (checked in Fire Alpaca, measured with pixels, even layered it over the Perfect pose from the guide, and his head is still.. Just a little off.
He's a 56th generation (I did a... speedrun of breeding purebred dalmatians to see what mutations would appear) dalmatian, no other breeds, but it's just so... odd.
The first one is MUCH better obviously, the tail curve, the ears, amazing.. But his eyes are still crooked! Granger is a silly little boy.
Anyone have any advice on how to make them pose more... straight? Am I doing something wrong? I'll take any advice, please TwT I'm brand new to this!

The second photo is captured too early I think?
On that first photo, you're not capturing the right frame sadly....
1) If you're using Petz 4, you can turn auto-save photos on and hold down the space bar and the game will capture every frame. You can view all the frames and select the one with the proper head. When you do this method, the photo lags a bit at the beginning so you have to hold down the space bar just slightly ahead of the pose or you'll miss the frame.
2) If you're using Petz 5, you can't do the above and you'll have to time your photo just right. I think you can turn the speed of the game slower in the PetzA settings.
(You can also do method 2 in Petz 4 as well! But I believe it's your only option in Petz 5)
I hope either of these pieces of advice helps you!

You've got the leg alignment perfect, so it's just a case of snapping a pic at the correct frame. The first dali pose you have here is either just before or just after when the head comes into position. Check the gif of the posing sequence in the Dogz Posing and Judging Guide - you want the first shot marked with a star where the dog is looking directly at the camera, when the nose will form a 'heart shape' (see also the picture example of a dali in a dali pose in the guide and note the nose shape with the 1 pixel gap along the top line). You may find that the eyes are still not fully level; some dalis/dali mixes are unable to achieve fully level eyes and/or back toes in pose (they will be off by 1 pixel) and that's okay, as long as that nose is heart-shaped and the dog is at the correct breathing point (chest puffed, tail curled nicely, etc) and looking straight at the camera.
I definitely recommend posing in P4 and not P5 if at all possible! I use the P4 method that Thor mentioned.

I do indeed use Petz 5 sadly. Dang! I can definitely slow it down and take screenshots more often, I've gotten much for efficient at taking pictures, praising for the posing, and moving the screenshots from petzpix before it gets full, then continuing.
Thank you both so much! I'm glad at least the leg alignment was right, just gotta work on the head alignment!! I appreciate the help ^w^

You could always make a copy of your dog and use PetzFlux to convert him to P4 and take pictures there? Just an idea. Personally, I find Dalis really hard to pose so don't be discouraged! Like others said, I think you're on the right path with alignment and angle If you're struggling to get a good front-facing pose, you could always just enter profile shows. I have a couple of dogs that just can't pull off front-facing so that's what I do! Though this dog isn't a weird breed or anything so in theory it should be possible to get a good picture
